Great camera
Nice-sized camera. Easy to use and compatible with accessories. Clear video. Great price.

Great value for the price.
This is my first camera of this type. I bike, kayak and off-road, so this camera will definitely come in handy. There was no way I was paying GoPro prices as I will only use the camera for personal use on a limited basis. My first impression of the camera is very positive. It has plenty of features and the image quality is very good, in bright light. The kit comes with a lot of good accessories. I already have a mini tri-pod for my webcam that I can use, but it would be nice if it came with a mini tripod. With the money saved buying this camera, there are plenty of options for accessories, including extra batteries. I purchased a 128 GB mini-SD card even though the manual lists 32 & 64 GB cards are compatible. The camera recognized it and formatted it without issue. The 128 GB card allows for about 4 hours of video at 4k30fps. The not so great - the camera is only so so in low light situations. I don't plan to use it often in those situations and I knew this before purchasing. So not a deal breaker. One issue that is a pain, on one kayaking trip where temps were in the upper 90s, the camera shutdown because it got too hot. Understandable, but the only way to get it to come back on after it cooled down was to remove the battery and miniSD card and hook up a USB cable with 5 Watts and 2 Amps power source. The camera came right on and I was able to reinstall the battery and miniSD card. Although also not a deal breaker, I need to remember to bring a portable charge that can charge at those specs in case the camera overheats again. All in all, it is a great buy. It was priced at $140, but has a $25 off coupon when I bought it. It's a really nice camera that really captures the great moments when our in nature.

This is THE BEST action cam, irrelevant of $, with some minor issues.
Want to give it 5 stars. I'm doing an upside down mounted camera under my bike seat on my electric "ebimotorcycle" contraption that goes 70ish and is costing around $10K now. This thing has everything, it's insane. I thoroughly compared this to a Hero 9 black, and unless you really want a gopro and its ecosystem, this is the better camera, at least for specific uses, all of these action cameras work differently. This one works better than the hero 9, with fewer but good options. I thought what I did may be helpful to people so I came back around half a year after purchase to leave a review and also a quick "how to" to help out anyone trying to do something similar. This solution is the result of at least 15hrs of playing with various adapters, cards, cables, etc, which I also had to buy for this purpose, costing me around $400 to figure out what only took about $100 then send everything else back with wonderful ole amazon prime. Anyway, I decided to do a rear 4k facing camera that displayed to a 4k screen mounted on the handle bars of my bike, with a wide field of view like 165-175 degrees, as a complete view behind me along with side mirrors. engineering constraints: I wanted the largest screen which made the most sense for spacing and I wanted full 4k from camera to screen with no compression or conversions and the camera was to be mounted under the seat using the framing of the seat and a "bike seat gopro mount," which meant it was upside down which introduces a problem with image rotation. NONE of the available action cams, in early '21 anyway, can live stream anything beyond 1080p over WIFI, so just know that is out. The hero 9 does not have HDMI out, this cam does. hero9, you have to use gopro's media mod if you want HDMI, and you can't use a usbc to HDMI cable or adapter, they block it. with the media mod and HDMI hooked up, you have to click 5-6 times on the camera to display a clean view HDMI signal, which is fine if you're occasionally setting it up, but I want it to work at power on. This v50 elite with HDMI and micro usb connected, it automatically powers on when power is applied to the usb cable I leave plugged in, like I want, and it AUTOMATICALLY displays a clean view HDMI signal when it detects the cable. I then feed that 4k 60fps hdmi into a "cam link 4k capture card", then with a usbA3.0 to usbA3.0 cable into an OTG to usbc cable, then into a Sony Xperia 1 which has a 6.5" 4k width screen, it does sacrifice height for size and in a rear view case, height isn't important. it doesn't matter anyway because the app takes care of that. That phone is the only 4k screen under 11", in addition to the xperia xz premium which is true 4k but a smaller screen and more bezel, so worse for my use. i also bought both phones to test for this. these are both "mark i" phones the "mark ii" versions are being release this year, but are not necessary when you just need the screen, but also get the entire phone. using this v50 elite, a 4k60hz capable micro hdmi to hdmi cable, 4k60hz capable capture card, 4k60hz capable male usbA3.0 to usbA3.0 cable, AND a 4k60hz capable OTG adapter along with an app called "endoscope HD camera," "OTG Camera" once its installed, and the following slight modification, and you get automatic, full clean view 4k. This may be for my capture card, not all: The only bit of additional work that is required for a fully automated setup, is that you have to use that usb cable to plug the capture card to the OTG adapter instead of directly plugging them in so that you can splice the wire casing open and cut the red wire. Then you need to build a simple "555 timer delay circuit," which costs about $2 for all parts and takes all of 3mins to assemble, and attach it between those cut red wires. without using the cable, there is no way to splice that voltage trace to delay the power getting to the capture card by 1-3 seconds, so the camera has tome to boot. i found this stuff has to happen in an order to work properly. adding a small delay to the capture card starting up prevents that. anyway, to summarize: 1) v50 elite on updated firmware from emailing Akaso -leave battery in because will not auto power on with DC power on, without battery. usb connected to switched power -mirco hdmi to hdmi plugged into capture card 2) cam link 4k capture card -off brand is 20 on amazon prime, brand name is 110. both are size of large jump drives -(possibly, see below) needs usb cable for OTG connection with 555 timer delay powering capture card 3) android OTG adapter with USBA for data and USBC for charging. "Type C USB OTG Cable" will charge your phone and also run capture card, just may need timing delay. 4) "endoscope hd camera" app. name is OTG camera once installed. loads camera quickly, automatically loads to clean view and supports 4k 30fps, don't know if it goes higher but that's all I'm allowed, may be limited by phone. automatically zooms to fill the screen and can easily zoom out to full 4k view. i LOVE that its default is exactly what i need. 5) pre-hookup usb and HDMI to camera, HDMI to capture card, OTG into phone, power into OTG cable. turn on camera, give it 4 seconds, plug in capture card to OTG, open app. 4k60 displayed at 4k30 or you can use 4k30 with image stabilization but that's up to you, I like having the extra frames to prevent skipping when the 30hz source and 30hz monitors frames don't line up in time. 6) install screen rotation app that lets me flip the video to the correct orientation since I mounted the camera upside down.

Great Camera For the Price
I would like to start by saying that I have both the V50 Pro and the new V50 Elite. We recently took the V50 Pro on a trip to the beach and it performed admirably. The camera was taken on multiple scuba dives that took us to depths around 30ft and all the video is clear and smooth. I recently ordered the V50 Elite and tested it out. I have not used it for any action filming yet, but plan to in the future. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality action camera without having to shell out for a GoPro. PROs: - Large, responsive touch screen - Improved Underwater Depth โ I havenโt tested this new camera underwater, but the V50 Pro was great and the V50 Elite allows even greater depths. - Accessories โ Numerous accessories are included with the camera. - Zoom Feature โ you now have the ability to zoom for photos and videos. This was a nice improvement over the V50 Pro. - Video Quality โ Outdoor video quality has been exceptional on my tests. - Photos โ One of the biggest issues I had with the V50 Pro was the image (not video) quality. So far, the V50 Elite has taken great quality photos. - Price โ the price V50 Elite when compared to Go Pro counterparts really canโt be matched. CONs: - Waterproof Case Power Button โ When the camera is in the waterproof case, the power button does not work. That is, the case has a button on it, but the extension doesnโt reach the actual button on the camera, so I have to take the camera out of the case to turn on/off. - Indoor/low lighting video quality is not great. I did not buy for indoor use, so not a big deal to me. Overall Rating: Video Quality: 4* (5*-Outdoor; 3*-Indoor) Sound Quality: 4* Photo Quality: 5* Price: 5* Included Accessories: 5* Rounded Avg: 5*

Excellent Customer Service!! 5 Star product!!!
UPDATE: Excellent Customer Service!! Originally I gave a 3 star review. The camera was very good for the price but had been advertised as a touch screen, but we did not receive that version. I was contacted about my review and the company sent a new camera with touch screen. Totally unexpected. I had originally given the camera as a gift and could not return it, but since they sent a new touch screen version, I was able to give our son this great camera!!! I can't say enough about this touch screen! The zoom is on the touch screen instead of buttons on the side of the camera for much improved functionality. The touch screen is easier to navigate. Customer Service explained that the sound recording while in the case is muffled because the case is totally waterproof. The camera needs to be out of the case to have good sound recording. I would recommend purchasing this instead of a goPro or in addition to a goPro if you needed a second camera. We have one super happy 12yo son!! You won't be disappointed in this purchase because this company backs their product 110% and wants you to be satisfied! They will make it right!!! Original Review: This is a great little camera. We have a GoPro Hero 7 Black and this little camera, we purchased as a gift for our 12yo son to film along side us. It is just a fun as a GoPro. The camera lens is a little fisheyed but works great! The microphone does not do very well while in the case but outside of the case it is perfect. It has so many functions for the price! The splash proof remote allows you to use voice commands and operate the camera via the camera's own wifi. The fact that it has it's own app, is great! We highly recommend this camera. The only downfall is that the camera was advertised as a touch screen version but came with a standard screen. Bummer. So 5 stars for the camera, 3 stars for false advertising. If we purchased for ourselves, we would have returned it, but our son loves it so much, we are not going to take it from him. The second downfall would be trying to find a way to film with this camera without the waterproof case, as the microphone can't record properly. It has a standard camera stand screw recess plate, so it will connect to standard camera equipment. It needs a holder to mount to his accessories.

the better budget choice
its good for what you need it for. accessories are pretty limited to only akaso brand accessories. 3rd party accessories are very limited compared to DJI and GoPro. i have taken the camera underwater and on motorcycle here is what i learned. the app is horrible. it works when its on and you do nothing else on your phone. when you switch to another app or hit home to check messages perhaps the app will perhaps shut down the connection to the camera and you don't know this unless your looking at phone screen app or cam screen. this could devastatingly cut your recording at a critical time. i dont have power saver on or any app killers. its got free reign over my phone so i don't understand why it will just drop the connection. the camera could benefit from bluetooth input for a "viewless" but more seemless connection that doesn't use wifi. i don't use the app much honestly. its undependable unless i do literally nothing else except exclusively record. the accessories work great. no problems there. any add ons come in bundles though so you will have to spend money on the things you like with extras you didnt want. the battery life is meh. 12 minutes of a motorcycle ride drained a full battery on full 4k 60fps with a supported 4k memory card (this matters) by about 33 percent approximately. you can only see this on app. which also drains the battery faster with wifi on. so you get about perhaps 35 mins at full battery charge. you don't get any audio alerts to this on app or camera. you can connect a micro usb powerbank to it and record for longer or just buy more batteries. you get two batteries in the box so about an hour total of record time right out the box. the footage and pics look great. no concerns there. you will be happy with it UNLESS YOU WANT IT FOR NIGHT FOOTAGE. it is weak at night. even in night mode its hard to make anything out not for it being blurry but it being too dark. i could make out license plates at times but basically no building outlines in riding footage. this might be a deal breaker for you if you need nighttime footage. i will update if i find a particular setting that helps this but so far its pretty meh at night. for the price on an entry level action camera this works but leaves you wanting more. really depends on your needs. 4k at 60fps is hard to find at this price. if like me you want it for commuting to and from work on motorcycle and maybe an occasional outing this could be for you. for more professional use, some extra accessories and preparation could deal with its shortcomings.

Love this camera!! So glad I bought it!!
SHORT REVIEW: I really love this little camera! I used it for 3 weeks in numerous locations throughout the Carribean. The pictures this camera takes are excellent! The videos are great too! You won't be disappointed. (Just remember it is a $140 compact camera. It's not a $1000 professional camera with a $3000 lens nor will it make you a sandwich.) Buy one and then get an accessories pack for like $20 off of Amazon and you will be set for any kind of filming you can think of. LONG REVIEW: I love this ELITE. My last camera was an Akaso 4K Ultra HD which I misplaced so I ordered this one for my upcoming vacation, for snorkeling and scuba diving video and photos. I then found my old 4K Ultra HD camera. So I did side by side comparison tests. After comparing the two cameras, I was very happy that I purchased the ELITE! Side by side comparisons the ELITE blows the 4k Ultra away for many reasons, but a few are far better resolution, touchscreen, quality of materials, additional features on the ELITE. Lets look at a few aspects of this mini camera. VIDEO QUALITY: - (OUTSIDE OF WATER USE and not in an external hard card) - was excellent! I have some amazing video of Pearl Island and Puerto Rico that turned out beautifully. The video quality went above and beyond my expectations. - (BELOW WATER & in a waterproof hard case) - was excellent as well. The video came out beautifully, where there was ample sunlight and minimal sediment stirred up in the ocean. I got some brilliant video of gorgeous marine life swimming all around. I am SO GLAD that I purchased this camera and had it with me. I have video that I will look at again and again. PHOTO QUALITY - excellent! I took some amazing photos on beaches in St Kitts and on Half Moon key that are just spectacular! Like I was blown away with the beautiful pictures. It really beat my initially low expectations. (Reminder the photos are not 16:9 they are rounded.) SOUND QUALITY: - (outside of water use and not in an external hard card) - was surprising great. Who would have quessed that such tiny microphones could pick up such excellent quality sound. I was shocked!! Now, this is not an audiophile's level of expectation, it is just some dude marveling at how good the camera's microphones worked, keeping a realistic expectation in mind. - (below water & in a waterproof hard case) - was such a pleasant surprise! Even in the waterproof hard case the microphones still picks up sound. You can hear the noise of the waves. I could hear music when coming in close contact with it or people, etc. I was amazed that even in the hard case this camera could still record sound as well as it did. TOUCHSCREEN: I love the touchscreen. It saves so much time making one able to do quick adjustments without having to just use the up and down arrow on the side of the camera. You can do quick editing, change the video or photo quality, even do special effects adjustments so fast...and then be right back to videoing. AKASO APP for phone/tablet/pc: The Akaso App for my phone/tablet worked great! I love that I could edit and record using my phone or tablet's screen which is so much easier to see and do editing on considerably larger screens. It also allowed me to show others my photos and videos on a much larger screen. I could even download the photos and videos right on to my phone or tablet for back-up / redundancy purposes. Awesome!! CASING: I like how the ELITE has a rubberized texture to the case which provided a slip-free surface. These cameras are small and I have big hands. I was able to hold this camera and it wasn't slippery to hold unlike the 4K ULTRA with its hard plastic shell. There are many more features that I have not described and as I use this more will share my findings as I am able. Enjoy this camera and make many wonderful and lasting memories with it. God bless!

Great Camera, Horrible Android App, May not save your videos
Update 7 months in: This camera has performed well in many circumstances from construction to recital recording, however I found an issue today that gives me concern. It is possible to "record" multiple videos, have the camera show that it is recording/count down, start/stop properly between videos, and yet not record a second of video. I just recorded almost an hour of 3-5 minute videos (that can't be duplicated), verified that the camera was recording and counting down the remaining time, yet the camera never saved the videos to the card and did not show any kind of error or signal that my videos were not saved (it showed everything was fine). I believe this may be due to the fact that I used a card out of an android phone and forgot to format it first, however the camera should have given me at least a warning or error instead of showing everything was fine! This has led to subtracting a star from my rating. I am very impressed with this camera, which by itself is 5 stars. I have found multiple uses for it and have been very pleased with the picture and sound quality. The amount of accessories that are provided with the camera is great, but there is no documentation on what they all are. The reason for only 4 stars is the app, which is horrible (and was immediately uninstalled from my phone). The app is not necessary due to the inclusion of a remote and alternative apps that work with the camera. The best accessory is the waterproof/protective case. My oldest wants to always help with everything (which is great), even when they get in the way and make it more difficult (which isn't so great). I started giving them the camera and letting them record the action as a way of "helping". This keeps them farther back, the protective case keeps the camera from getting damaged, it is essentially free since I can simply delete the video, and once in a while I even have gotten some great shots. Handing a camera to a child not yet in kindergarten is a great test of the protective case and image stabilization, which works very well. It also keeps them occupied while still feeling helpfull. The Android app is horrible, the Google Play rating of the app (AKASO DV) is 2.3 stars. I installed the app, it asked for permission to manage my calls and contacts, I declined because you do not need that to remote control a camera, it gave me an error message written in Chinese with two buttons (also written in Chinese) I selected the one that is typically no (I don't read Chinese), and it closed the app. I then uninstalled the app. I understand why they could want those levels of access to my phone, however I will never share videos directly from the camera, and I don't want the app to block incoming calls simply because I am controlling the camera. I am ok with granting file access (to be able to retrieve files), but there are no features that this camera could have that would make me grant contact and call access to it. Most apps can still work by simply disabling the features that require those permissions, however this one cannot. I did find that the iSmart DV app does work with this camera. It allows you to preview, record and change some settings from your phone, but has ads and requires location priviledge (probably for the ads). I rated the camera itself 5 stars, then took away two stars because of the app, then added one star back because of all the accessories they provide. Had they not included the remote and case, I would have rated this product 3 stars. If they fix the app, I will update this review to the 5 stars the camera deserves. I purchased this camera and did not recieve anything for a positive review. AKASO does have a promotion where they send some extra free accessories for leaving a review (any review), but that will never impact how I rate a product, except negatively if they try to force positive reviews this way. I applaud any company genuinely interested in improving their product through feedback (and willing to offer an incentive to provide it), but despise any company simply trying to buy a good rating.
