A History of Kashmir

An unbiased in depth about the history of the Kashmir, debunks may theories such as the israelites theory. Must read!!

First thing first. The book is only of 240 pages. It is not of 782 pages as advertised here. Why it is such a false statement for the readers? I was planning to buy another book by the same author on Ladak, Gilgit and Baltistan which is supposed to be of 400 pages. But who knows, I might be deceived twice. Will any good reader let me know about the actual number of pages of that? Keeping this apart the book is informative about the past and present status of Kashmir. I have updated the book for a better use in future.

Sir It is a very poorly written book on Kashmir. The advertised page notes 782 pages while there are only 234 pages. The research work is also nothing which is very regrettable. The very purpose of book is either to earn money or get publicity. The writer is Indian Adm services person and should have studied the subject and then write the book. Amazon should verify before giving advertisement. This Case is a bizarre Case.I don't recommend this book to readers as other good books on the subject are available. 782 shown while actual page234! This would earn bad name to. Amazon. Paper used is also not of good quality.

The author's writing style isn't very fluid but thankfully is quite descriptive and the author has covered the history in small tidbits rather than whole history in one flow .. Otherwise the book is a good introduction for Kashmir's culture,history and politics !

The book is a comprehensive overview of the history of Kashmir, written for someone already aware (a bit) of Kashmiri culture and history. You will enjoy how it connects pieces of known facts with information lesser known, lending a larger perspective to the understanding about Kashmir. Pervez Dewans personal experiences in Kashmir lend credibility to a lot of facts and experiences, which one finds in most other books about Kashmir missing.
