.com The team of the 1990s? The Denver Broncos will be the choice of sentimentalists and those with short memories because of the John Elway-inspired Super Bowl wins in 1998 and 1999. But if you're going to be honest, the answer has to be the Cowboys. The fabulous offensive troika of quarterback Troy Aikman, running back Emmitt Smith, and trouble-filled wide receiver Michael Irvin led the Cowboys to three Super Bowl victories in the decade, capped by a marvelous performance in Super Bowl XXX. Of the three championship seasons, this was the most interesting. NFL Films does a masterful job examining the highs and lows of a 12-4 season, with much of the story told in the words of players other than the big three. This was a season full of headlines, on and off the field. The early-season signing of Deion "Prime Time" Sanders was the best news. There were also distractions caused by Dallas owner Jerry Jones going outside the NFL to sign private marketing deals, a lawsuit filed by the NFL, and a countersuit filed by Jones. And then there is the enigmatic Barry Switzer, the handpicked college buddy of Jones, in his second season as successor to the flamboyant Jimmy Johnson. Switzer's hiring raised questions and led to one of the all-time worst coaching decisions, which put the Cowboys' season in peril. All of this makes for a wonderful ride. You don't have to be a fan of "America's Team" to enjoy this video and respect the achievement. --Gordie Sholtys
