This kit made tying my own lures way simpler than I expected. Everything you need is included and the wooden box keeps it all organized. Good quality tools for the price, would recommend if you're getting into fly tying.

For the cost, it is hard to beat this kit. I have upgraded the vice as that is by far the weakpoint of these tools, but everything else that comes in the kit is passable-good quality. I bought this kit as a newer fly angler curious about fly tying but didn't want to break the bank, I was able to learn enough about tying to learn that I liked it and invested in a higher quality vice. I highly recommend this kit as a great value starter kit to anybody interested in fly tying, knowing that over time you will want to upgrade tools. The first upgrades from this kit are a higher quality vice (particularly a true rotary) and better scissors.

I bought this toolkit to learn how to tie flies. It's great for me. All the tools are very functional and work well. However after using the kit for a week or so heavily, here are two wishes that need to be considered before purchasing: 1. The vise is good, but not great. I have some issues rotating the fly once I get the hook set. I also wish that it was removable from the case and mountable on the table. This last thing is not a big deal except the case can slide on the table. 2. The scissors are not super great. I will probably replace the scissors very shortly. They cut thread just fine, but when you need to start trimming the fly they are somewhat lacking because they are not very sharp. All in all I knew I was buying an economical kit and that is exactly what I got. The tools are extremely workable, and I have tied several great flies already. So I am not disappointed in my purchase at all. Just understand that you're not buying the greatest tools in the world, and you'll be fine with this toolkit.

I bought this to give it a chance, despite the negative reviews I read. This thing isn't AMAZING, but it has been pretty good to me. It's great for starting out, traveling, space saving, or budget in my opinion. If you are use to expensive vices, then you may not like it. It's not the smoothest thing to operate, but that's not a problem when you get use to it.

Usable but quality is not there. The main screw in stud that holds the fly is under cut not allowing full thread engagement. Luckily I have the parts to fix it and make it more durable. It is okay for first time fly tying but would not buy it again. Not durable. You get what you pay for. If you value your money look for something else.

Be aware that this is not a professional kit, but it does an amazing job for the price. It is also very compact for a full set, I can even throw some small bobins and a few feathers in there. Pros: -Very compact and lightweight, -You can tie flies pretty much anywhere, in the car, on the side of the river, etc.. -You get a full tying set without braking the bank. Which is more than a plus for beginners. Cons: -It is tricky to fit hooks smaller than 18 in the vise, but not impossible. -Built for right handed in mind, but not unusable for left handed individuals. -The base stuck at the bottom of the box and it's not that heavy, it can shift while tying on a table. Know what you are buying and I am sure you will appreciate this set. Would recommend to a friend.
