This was the first time I bought an Otterbox. I really liked my old Magpul case but it did not have a cover for the charging port. I didn't think this was a problem but after several years with my old iPhone I had to often clean my phone's charging port of dust or else it wouldn't charge. This is a common problem if you’re like me and keep your phone in your pocket a lot. For my new iPhone XR I wanted a case with dust protection over the charging port. The Otterbox Commuter fit the bill and the added bulk was a trade off I was okay with when comparing this case with the Otterbox Symmetry. Pros: 1) Great protection for the iPhone XR 2) The case fits like a glove and yet is pretty easy to take on and off the phone. 3) Pretty good grip on the case 4) Cover for the charging port 5) The case doesn't seem to stretch over time like other cases I've had. 6) Otterbox's customer service and 7 year warranty for mobile cases. Cons: 1) Case is bulky and probably not as stylish as thinner cases (e.g., Otterbox Symmetry or Magpul Bump Case). Here's the reason I can only give the case 4 stars. After 19 months of using this case on my iPhone XR, the synthetic rubber flap that covers the charge port began to wear down to the point where it fell off my old case (see pictures). This was very disappointing considering the cost of the case and the reputation of the brand. I'm not really harsh on my phone, just the usual wear and tear. Through the Otterbox website I activated the warranty on Sunday and received a new case on Friday. The replacement case was technically free but I had to pay $7.45 for the S&H and tax. If you're undecided about this case, go for it. You'll be happy with it, just go easy on that rubber flap covering your charge port.

In a nutshell: Pros: 1. Product is excellent and assured that even if it falls from 6 feet, there would not be any damage to the phone. 2. Easy to install 3. Good grip with rubber(y) feeling 4. Goes well with a screen-guard. CONS: 1. BULKY - Trust me - the phone becomes twice the width. XR by no means is a small phone, but this cover beefs up... feels like a wrestler is pumped with air! This would ensure that you have to use both your hands to operate the phone. 2. The blue colour appears dark in the images but in actual is towards a lighter shade of blue. Its not bad, but does feel odd for a colour other than black phone (I have a red). 3. I actually prefer to close the screen when not in use. hence I have returned this and placed order for an otterbox Strada. This is definitely a decent product and would make sure that your expensive investment (a joke to call a phone) is protected but adds a lot of bulk to existing bulk.

A lovely shade of blue. Very durable (already dropped it a few times). I personally love the bulkiness to it. The charging port has a cover, took some time to get use to but it's a nice feature that I didn't know it had.
