It’s the best chana masala I have used !!!

A aunty from Amritsar told me about this masala. And trust me, you don't need anything to flavor your boiled chana except this masala. Fantastic taste and it adds absolutely lovely black-is color to the chana. TIP: Don't add salt, please. I did and it became a little too salty. The masala already has salt.

I saw a lot of reviews of people who have commented - "it tastes like pani puri masala" , "duplicate", etc etc...I made chana masala twice using this masala - first you don't have to blindly follow instructions mentioned on the packet which says - in the boiled chana add the DPS masala and that's it, no need to add any other ingredients - BOLLOCKS - onion, tomato, ginger garlic paste, a little deghi mirch powder, turmeric powder...all these are essential, and most importantly ANARDANA..and of course finally this masala. And viola - amristari chana masala is ready...Wait also give a tadka of desi ghee + asafoetida+ ginger julienes...just awesome...P.S. - Order only from the seller DPS masala

I think the way the instructions are given on the packet a big hype is created and the reality does not live up to the expectations. If you just stir in the masala onto boiled chane and eat it just straight away, the taste is of uncooked masalas. It improves if you heat desi ghee to a good temperature and pour it over the masala in the pot before stirring it into the chole. This takes care of the raw masala taste. Another way is to cook chole the regular way and then add this masala instead of the masalas you usually use. Either way there is no special reason one would buy this unless one is a student or someone who doesn’t know much cooking or doesn’t want the hassle of cooking. This is a poor approximation of Amritsari chole. I should know, I am from Amritsar.

Writing this review after using 3 packets. This product is amazing and best. You have to use it once and you will become its fan. Just add this to your boiled chana and worlds best chana masala dish is ready no need to add anything else. Just buy it...thanks to its manufacturers for making chana masala dish so so tasty.
