Galle Lamps

a must for any galle buff . great photo's of all lamps, a great companion to mr. duncans galle furniture book. loved the small lamps most books don't cover.

Not just a coffee table book, (even though it could be with such gorgeous color photos), Alastair Duncan has given art glass lovers another wonderful book. In collaboration with Georges Bartha, who also worked with him on the larger companion book "Galle' Furniture," this book is as lovely to view as it is educational to read. For those who wish to learn from the beginning about all of Galle's glass works as well as peek into his private and professional life through interesting early photos, this is a book you will enjoy. Mr. Duncan's influence in his 35th book will be obvious to those who know his succinct and scholarly style of writing in a somewhat story telling manner. Those who took French in high school or college will get a very proper lesson in the spelling and use of all manner of French terms, as the authors are quite exact in their descriptions and other text. Thanks to Mr. Duncan for making your 35th book a lovely gift indeed.

Libro molto interessante con foto bellissime

C'est un joli album de photographies de lampes, mais très décevant sur le fonds :- Nombreuses erreurs et approximations historiques (notamment pour la période post 1904)- La bibliographie s'arrête vers 1990 à quelques rares exceptions près : l'auteur ignore toute la littérature spécialisée sur Gallé publiée notamment au moment de l'anniversaire de l'Ecole de Nancy et depuis.- La plus grande partie du livre est une "galerie d'images" qui n'est effectivement que cela : pas d'identification des modèles, pas de localisation, pas de datation, pas de mesures données, pas de commentaire sur le motif.Bref, un livre inutile sur un sujet pourtant qui mériterait une étude complète.
