Liberon GCRAM30 30ml Gilt Cream - Rambouillet

I used the Rambouillet gilt cream to highlight the detail on some Lincrusta wallpaper which I had painted dark brown. The gilt cream comes as a very thick paste - it would not, for example, pour from the jar. I chose to apply the cream by hand and simply rubbed it on with my finger end; it covered with ease as it's such a solid paste/colour. I did not want an even finish and this method allowed it to be lightly textured and imperfect; this means it catches the light differently across the day and it's amazing how varied it can appear depending upon the light patterns.I found the cream dries very quickly so if you accidentally get some on an unintended item, you need to get it off quickly with white spirit although, I found that I could wash it off my fingers with baby wipes and soapy water.Very good product with lots of different applications; I am very pleased with the result and how well it suits my Victorian home.
