generationxdad review Back to the future lego
Generation X throw back! Back to the Future!!! Hands down one of the best set of movies ever made. I'll never forget watching Dr. Emmett ‘Doc' Brown and Marty McFly traveling through time, riding a hover board, wild wild west, and the iconic DeLorean!!!! When I heard that Lego was going to create a DeLorean Lego I knew that my son and I were going to build this together! I made a big deal out of this, we started by watching all three movies before putting the DeLorean together! After watching all the movies it was time to sit down have have some enjoyable father and son time!In my years I've spend a lot of time building Legos but nothing beats sitting down with my son and building Lego creations together!401 pieces! I was a surprised by how many pieces were needed to create this awesome Lego! Very happy with the instructions! This Lego was really easy to put together however I don't think son (only 8 y/o) could have finished alone. Lego recommends 10+ and I agree. After a little more then an hour we finished,Final Review:I love that with just a few changes you can change the DeLorean to match the individual movies. Well played Lego!!!!Great toy! Worth every penny. Fun project to work on on with your kids on a rainy afternoon.Generation X dad gives this toy two huge thumbs up!Generation X son also gives this toy two thumbs up!

If you're a fan of both Legos and Back to the Future
This an awesome set. I was a little concerned when I got it. I am fairly certain this set ships from Canada or something, because the graphics are slightly different fro most sets I've seen in the states, and everything is printed in English and French. As soon as I opened the box I was hooked. The quality in this set is just a little bit above everything else I've gotten from Lego. The box has flaps and opens like a briefcase so you don't destroy it while opening it. Then when I pulled out the instruction booklet its not a thin set of paper instructions, its more like a commemorative booklet with facts about the movie, as well as the story of how the creators of the set were able to make it happen. Everything about this set makes it feel like a collector's edition set.Everything so far is just the gravy though, lets get to the set. The details on this set are superb. There are no decals, all of the decal pieces have everything printed on them. It has the flux capacitor, a couple of gauges, and then the piece right on the dash with the actual dates from the first movie leaving 1985 and going back to 1958. It also comes with both of the license plates used in the three movies, I prefer the California OUTATIME plate, but it also has the orange 2015 barcoded plate that even has the state and the date on it. Both of the doors swing open, and the wheels swing down to mimic flying as displayed on the front of the box. It even has some clear pieces that act as a stand underneath it so that you can mimic hovering if you decide to display it like that. It also comes with all of the pieces necessary to make the changes that happened to the car though out the movies.I only have two tiny complaints regarding this set. The first is that the docs hair is designed in such a way that he doesn't fit in the car, and its just barely that he doesn't fit, so I have mine set up so it looks like he's getting in, but Marty does fit in the car with no problems. The other slight thing is that I would have loved to have seen Doc's dog as part of the set, but like I said these are both trivial things. The detail in the characters is fantastic, the both have two faces you can switch between smiling, and being afraid, then the other face is covered by the hair.In conclusion, if you know someone who is a fan of both Legos and the Back to the Future movies I highly recommend this set. The detail is fantastic, and you can't beat the price. The best bang for your buck that I've seen in a lego set in quiet a while.

time to go back in time ...
this set is irresistible, an absolute treat, for anyone who remembers the BTTF films from childhood or adolescence. Lego has really done the films justice with this set. I got this set right after it was announced, and it seems to be selling extremely well. that's no surprise, because this is a home run for Lego's CUUSOO line (i.e., sets made by customer demand).the deluxe combination photobook/instruction manual, with trivia from the film and a little blurb from Michael J. Fox on his Parkinson's research foundation, is a nice plus. and Doc Brown and Marty McFly get terrific minifigures, and there are a number of highly customized/printed pieces unique to this set that will delight Lego collectors and BTTF fans alike.the only "downside" of the set (and it isn't really a downside) is that you'll have to decide whether to display it as the version from the first movie, second movie, or third movie! (the set includes all the pieces you need to customize the vehicle for each film). i ended up going with the BTTF2 version. just be sure to have a safe place to store the teeny tiny highly customized pieces you need to switch versions (e.g., the personalized license plate).of course, not everyone remembers or has seen the films. solution? buy the trilogy on DVD or Blu-Ray to go with it. problem solved!

Going Back in Time!
This is one of the few LEGO CUUSOO sets developed so far--it's a set that a LEGO-lovers forum voted on to be made, so I knew before I saw it put together that it would be pretty cool. The mister is a huge Back to the Future fan, so I got this for him for Christmas and he was really excited to open it and has already gotten lots of comments on it from friends. The Marty McFly minifigure is a highlight of the set, as well as the opening DeLorean doors and flip-able tires (you know, for when you go somewhere where you don't need roads). The car can be modified to mirror the car in each of the movies, including corresponding license plates.I was really impressed with the box the set came in. It's not a typical LEGO box, but one that is sturdy and reusable for keeping your set pieces together. The building instruction book is bound, not stapled together, and has information at the front about the set and CUUSOO. All in all, this is packaged in a way that is much nicer and collectible in the long run. Needless to say, this set is going to the mister's office and not being added to the kids' LEGO collection.
