By far the best mattifying results I've experienced
I love this product and it's fight to combat oil and shine. I use this in conjunction with La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat Daily Moisturizer and I've never been happier with my skin while wearing make up. I am a long time sufferer of extremely oily skin and acne. I've even taken a treatment of acutane and still suffer from oily skin. although my adult cystic acne is completely gone, I still have back heads and get small pimples. Therefore, I have to be careful with what I put on my skin. I work in an office setting and wear makeup around 14 hours a day. Before using this product, I would have to clean or blot my skin about 3-4 times a day. My skin would look and be so oily if I touched it I could literally see the oil on my skin. Yuck! Now, with the combination of this mattifying primer and mattifying moisturizer, my skin looks hydrated and supple without being oily. Now, I still have to blot my skin about mid day but even then the oil isn't so pronounced that it's embarrassing. Regarding application, as with other reviews you have to work your technique to get it to apply just right. It's not like a lotion or liquid foundation that you can just go to town applying with all four fingers in an erratic manner applying all over your face at once. I've tried that - doesn't work. With this method the primer clumps up and rolls on itself instead of sticking to your face. I've tried the tapping with ring finger as other reviews suggested - doesn't work either. I found with this method too much was applied to areas causing it to turn white and flaky. What has consistently worked for me is apply with one or two fingers in VERY small areas of the face at a time with VERY small amounts of primer. I'm talking like a quarter amount of a pea. I start with the center of my forehead spread with one or two fingers until thin and smooth. Then on the left and right side of my forehead separately (I have a large forehead, unfortunately.) Then my nose, either side of my cheeks, separately. Center of my chin then either side of my mouth, separately. If you notice any build-up on your finger wipe it off with a tissue before dispensing another small amount of primer and applying. I do this about 3 times at least to ensure a clean finger is applying the product. You also want to ensure that the primer is fully dried before applying make up. After application I usually brush my teeth and gargle with mouthwash and then it's ready for make up. It took a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it the results are amazing. And since you really don't need much at all for each application this will last quite a while which make splurging on the price will be worth it in the end. I couldn't be happier.

I wish I knew about this 10 years ago!
first off, I am the oiliest person that ever lived. crazy oily, EXTREMELY sensitive, allergic to almost everything, cystic acne-prone. I have not had any negative reactions to this product. if you don't have very oily skin, I wouldn't recommend this for you. Also, you have to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS WHEN YOU APPLY IT. if you do your own thing and complain that it's terrible, it's your own fault. This is unlike any other primer you have ever used. it must be warmed between your fingertips, then lightly patted onto the areas you want it(for me, my whole face minus around my lips and obviously I don't put it on my eyelids). If you use too much or not enough, or RUB it onto your face, you will NOT like it. for those with unbearably oily skin, this is your HG. it does take a few applications to perfect your technique. your liquid makeup WILL set faster where you put this, so work quickly. if you have dry or flaky skin, stay away from this. you'd do much better with a normal silicone-based smashbox-y primer. I still have to blot throughout the day, but instead of needing to an hour after doing my makeup and every hour after that, I can usually go about every 3-4 hours. if I pair this with revlon's colorstay foundation for oily skin, I actually get home after 9-10 hours and my makeup still looks fairly decent. (yes I've tried prestige matte foundations but none of them stay on my face for more than a few hours. lancome, tarte, clinique, Estée Lauder, mufe, mac.. just to name a few). If you're fed up with being a greaseball, TRY THIS. it is amazing. also, my acne has improved due to not being an oil slick. if Becca ever stops making this, I am going to buy every single tube I can find and stash them away for the rest of my life.

Love it, but not a miracle oil reducer
I am 34 years old, and I've spent much of my teenage and adult life trying to find products that combat my oily skin. There is nothing more gross looking than makeup "floating" on top of an oil slick... and forget looking nice in pictures, because the flash reflection off of oily skin is blinding. So... here I go, trying yet another product. Recently I have tried Maybeline Baby Face, Neutrogena Shine Free, Smashbox photo finish, some other Neutrogena primer, and now BECCA. Here is what I think: I LOVE this BECCA stuff! Now, I didn't seem to have any application problems like some did. I tried patting it in, and it worked well, and I totally able to rub it on too. No problems there at all. It went on nice and smooth. My foundation went on SO nice on top of this stuff. Honestly, it is the best my makeup has EVER looked! My self confidence even spiked a little because I knew I looked good! The drawback: It does not mattify my skin. I put my makeup on at 630am and by 1030am it looks like you can feel fry something off my face. Alas, my goal to mattify is dashed. However, my makeup still looked perfect. It didn't float in the oil, it still was right where it was supposed to be. So... a little blotting (ok, who am I kidding, a lot of blotting) and my makeup looked great again. So, I guess I'm saying, if you're really oily like me, don't expect a miracle mattifier... but this product is totally worth the money, because it will make your makeup look great and solve many of the makeup problems that oily skin creates. It's just that if your skin is like mine, you will still get shiny.

I have combination skin with a particularly oily complexion during the warmer months. I used half of this on one side of my face to test it as I bought a few primers for my oily complexion to try. My friend noted the side that I wore this primer, that it minimised the appearance of the pores. Although not "poreless" - pores were still visible. (It should be noted the other primer wasn't specifically pore minimising). It did a lot better with creating a matte appearance than the other primer I tried. Although the result was not completely satisfactory - "ever-matte". I knew from the texture of this product when applying it that this was a good product; the product doesn't glide or apply smoothly; you have to work it in. The great thing about this product is that it is not silicone based. All in all, I have continued to use it.

For anyone who doesn’t believe primers work this one certainly does. I used to try different primers with the hopes they’d keep my face matte but never did till I came across this magic bottle. Best primer for an oily t-zone. Not saying it completely stops you from getting a little shiny but hands down the best I’ve used. I definitely notice a difference in make up these days since using it. I don’t find myself refreshing my face as often when I’m out.
