Petroleum Engineer's Guide to Oil Field Chemicals and Fluids

Not sure why I bought this book. A collection of facts and specs rather than a practical aid. Maybe nice to have as a reference for operations PEs.

Good overview for anyone in the business. I wish it was more chemistry heavy but it is an engineering reference.

There's a boom on Jed, and I'm not talking about the construction of cement ponds. State and local regulators dealing with proposals for hydraulic fracturing and the fluids used by the hydrocarbon industry in the process of 'fracking' an oil well would be wise to have this guide in the office. That, plus chapters on wastewater/spentwater and spill prevention will get you up to speed, as many jurisdictions across the country are learning the hard way, or learning nothing at all.

Excelent book to use as reference. I work with well design engineering and with field operations and this book has been doing a great job, bringing clear and detailed information about chemicals and fluids that I usually deal during well design or construction.
