Flawless performance
This is the first Japanese saw I have ever owned, but it will not be the last. I could not believe how well it performs, rip or crosscut, as I have the double edge, it is flawless. It wades through every cut like no saw Iโve ever used. I needed to rip a piece about 24 inches and because of the lateness of the hour, I didnโt want to disturb family or neighbors with my table saw so I grabbed one of my conventional saws and ripped the piece. The saw would stick and hang occasionally, And it drifted a bit away from my cut line but it was on the waste side. I had not used my Ryoba as of yet and decided to give it the same job, but it is a rather small saw so I was skeptical. In less than a minute it had changed my mind, no sticking, no hanging, no drift, it cut straight and true and did it in less time than the conventional. Very clean cutting. I am probably going to have to replace the blade before long because I reach for it now for every job, though I really donโt know what kind of mileage these saws get, If anyone knows I would appreciate the info. My daughter asked me what I want for Christmas, the Kataba 10 inch crosscut and the Dozuki 9 1/2 inch dovetail was my response, canโt wait till I can try them out, let you know how they perform.

This saw is awesome!
I use this in my yard to cut small woody overgrowth, limbs etc from easy to reach heights. It works great, easy to hold and super sharp, cuts right through limbs, small trees, vines, etc. Very Light weight and maneuverable- use this before i have to pull out the gas powered pole saws, chain saws, hedge trimmers. Love it and always wanted one. Do not regret purchasing and probably will purchase more in the near future -maybe as gifts as well. I cannot say for sure how long it holds up, but I hope it last a long time. Very convenient to use and prefer these over hand held clippers, pruners, loppers...

Easier, better looking, more accurate cuts
This little saw has been a real treat to use compared to the clunky & clumsy traditional style saw Iโve used my whole life. Despite not looking like much size wise, itโs very capable and has made clean, easy work of tree pruning and DIY wood projects. Starting cuts is much easier and while my skill level doesnโt produce perfectly straight results, the โwanderingโ that I usually end up with is minimized with this saw. Wish I had known about these sooner!

Well made, very effective.
This is a very nice saw, great size (bigger than it looks online). Blade is very narrow and sharp, cuts through 2x4 with ease. I chose this because I needed to cut through thicker material, verses the type that has reinforcement along the top to keep the blade straight. That makes cutting straight more challenging because the blade easily bends to fit whatever angle you are on, but that makes straight cuts more challenging. Best to have one of each :-)

I love this saw
This is a great saw. I use it for cutting off dowel plugs and recently it was the best solution for coping MDF crown moulding along with a grinder/flapdisk. Jigsaw blades would just gum up with the wood fibers. Many of the negative reviews are people that don't understand this is a PULL saw. They complain it bent the first time they used. it. You CANNOT bend this if you use it correctly. The force is on the pull, not the push. Second, many complain that the blade rusts. The saw says "made in Japan", so I'm thinking this is good quality steel (seems like it). It's probably good to protect it with wax or something similar. People tend to be used to stainless steel, etc., which won't rust but also won't hold its sharpness. Finally, many 1 star reviews are people complaining it isn't good on tree branches. It's not made for that use and those people should be stared at with deep contempt, while shaking your head and kicking dirt in their general direction. Overall, this saw is a pleasure to use. I've only used the less aggressive side, and can still cut through a 2x4 (accurately) in about 5 strokes. I'm probably going to buy more and give as gifts at Christmas. This sounds like a paid review, but I assure you it is not. See my other reviews.

Excellent! Especially for left handed woodcrafters
This is the best addition to my worshop in years and Iโm going to slowly buy the rest of the pull saws in the collection. The weight, balance and quality are excellent and the blade is unbelievably sharp with a very thin kerf. As a lefthanded guy, this is the easiest handsaw Iโve ever used. People are probably scratching their heads on that but hereโs why. Right handers draw lines away from the body and lefties draw lines toward the body. I have always hated handsaws because pushing away straight, even with my right hand isnโt a natural action and I bind it because I naturally put weight on the pull. Today I made 10 perfectly accurate cuts completely effortlessly with my Suizan pull saw right out of the very nice packaging. This blade is completely worth the price for the quality. Itโs also very nice looking. I so wish I would have bought one years ago.

Perfect woodworking saw for fine work like mitering
So many of you who have ever bought a miter box on amazon like the box but if it came with a saw, you feel like you wasted your money. The same goes for me. Instead of online I bought one of the popular on here Stanley miter box with saw. Oh man, no lie, the saw is like trying to cut wood with a butter knife. But I head read about these fine cut Japanese saws with great reviews. So I ordered one and it is night and day. I am currently cutting 1/4" thick boards for a set of speakers stands I am making (facia for the main stands). With the PROVIDED saw, was taking from 20 or more seconds to cut through a board (which is actually quite thin). Enter this Japanese saw and wham...3 to 5 seconds and cut. I made short work of the project. My only mistake (so you dont have to) is get the 9" not the 7". The 7" works but just barely so I have to watch I dont make too long a stroke and pop out of the guide in the miter box. 9" would be perfect, You wont regret this purchase and you dont have to use it in a miter box. Love that its two sided with a rough cut side and fine cut side

Cuts Boards (including MDF) Accurately for Art Panels
This pull saw cuts precisely without shredding the edges of my MDF boards. It's lightweight and very easy to use. I make my own art panels for oil painting by cutting MDF, sealing, gessoing, then sanding the gessoed board for a smooth surface. This well-crafted, efficient saw has liberated me from bugging my husband to cut MDF boards for me. They never did come out great with a common push saw anyway. Safety note: Aside from obvious precautions to respect the very sharp edges of this pull saw, you should wear a mask if cutting MDF frequently. It contains formaldehyde. Cover your floor to catch the sawdust and dispose of it responsibly.

Makes cutting straight and true a trivial affair
This was my first time using a Japanese pull saw. However, the skill and muscle memory associated with using a Western push saw lends itself naturally to succeeding off the bat with this pull saw. This 5-inch Ryoba made short work of my sheesham wood study table. The quality of the cut was astonishing. In fact, I managed to saw off the legs of the hard wood table within minutes. But most surprisingly, the precision and consistency of the cuts allowed the table to sit true without the need for any shimming. I'll be buying the Dozuki saw as well to transition completely to Japanese pull saws.

The best saw in the world!
Because of this saw, I was able to cut the legs on my wooden stool. It was so easy and precise. I have been wanting to do it for 20+ years and now I can sit under the counter without my tighs touching the top of the counter. I also had to replace some of the laminate floor and I was able to cut it without any problems. It was great the saw, coping saw, and chisel. No fraying, clean cut. The floor looks beautiful. I can't wait to use it for another project. It works great!
