KAPLAN MD Perfect Pout SPF 30 Lipstick, Santa Monica

This exceeded my expectations. It applies like a satin finish lipstick, somewhere between a regular lipstick and a balm. It is semi-sheer, which I find looks quite natural compared to an opaque finish. There is teeny tiny, subtle shimmer, just enough for a bit of shine without looking like a teenager. The color (Hollywood) is a perfect "hot peach" color- not dull, not neon, not pink, not orange, just a perfect vibrant pop of sheer ripe red peach (that is buildable for a more intense color). This wears down very evenly, not patchy, not clumpy, not gooey. It dries down into a soft, even, non-drying lip stain. When I am out of the sun, I can revive the original shine on top of the stain left behind with a bit of chapstick or gloss, or just another swipe of this product. It does smell and taste faintly of sunscreen, but not in a bad or chemical way. It does not taste bad at all, it tastes faintly sweet. I want to buy this in every color. I wanted something to protect my lips while golfing, and this was the perfect (and prettiest) solution. I would say it has good longevity, as I do not need to reapply it at all during 18 holes. It is moisturizing like a balm but not sticky. It does transfer, but not too badly, and it doesn't wear off too much while it transfers (again, I golf 18 holes while drinking a lot of water and do not have to reapply, and it wears down/dries down very evenly and attractively). I am considering wearing it on my wedding day due to my trust in the way it wears so nicely, and how natural the color looks both in person and in photos. My only gripe about this item is the design of the tube. I love the twist-up mechanism, however, the lid flap has fallen off several times in the couple of months I have had it, due to the hinge pin falling out. I have been able to find the small pin in the bottom of my purse and re-attach the lid flap by re-inserting the pin into the hinge, which is easy and quick to do, but I expect a lipstick that costs this much not to break. That being said, the lipstick itself is completely worth the money, and I would still pay twice as much in order to keep buying this. I highly recommend it (please fix the hinge, KAPLAN)!

I love this lipstick! It feels wonderful and it plumps the lips really well! Lasts pretty good, too! Oh! And, it even tastes good! 😊

I was trying to replace an old lipstick by this company. The color didn’t match unfortunately. Additionally, I feel this lipstick is grossly overpriced. There is nothing special about it for $30. The case is a really nice design but that’s the best part about it. I won’t purchase from this company again.

Love it. Feels smooth and cooling to the lips. Long lasting and hydrating. I cant tell you how much i love the one handed tube!!! Wish color was a little richer. If color were true, would give it 5☆

I buy this lipstick in clear. It is very moisturizing and the twist-up design is perfect for carrying in my pocketbook. No need to remove a top - so easy!

This is such a poor product at such a high price point! Little or no color shows up on the lips, the idiotic tube design immediately broke, meaning there’s now no top on it, and it’s just incredible to me that anyone would choose this. Go elsewhere.

Lovely .Great opening mechanism. I wish I’d got a lighter colour …..hopefully I’ll be able to buy another soon . . It’s always the problem with colours ! I had an accident six months ago, fell flat on my face , injuring not only my face but my lips ( once again !) I have epilepsy. Developed a nasty blood clot on my lips . Therefore , not only did I need a lipstick that would help brighten me up but also help with the healing & softening .

I loved the colour, texture and design of the case. Unfortunately only after I used it did I discover it contains peppermint to which I have an intolerance (confirmed by full ingredients list on the company's home website but not here). A previous review had mentioned taste but I expected something like rose used in some other high end products. Pity.
