When I wake up inside a cozy sleeping bag in a tent and feeling warm all over except for my cold nose, I want to know the temperature. Should i wiggle into my clothes in the sleeping bag, or hop up, get dressed and get the stove going for tea? After 50 years of camping I can make good decisions without extra equipment. It’s the borderline temperature decisions where a thermometer zipper pull is useful. In freezing temperatures I will wiggle into my clothes inside the sleeping bag and put on the boots that spent the night in the bottom of same bag. It’s in the 40 to 60F temperatures, where one is most vulnerable to hypothermia where experience and the thermometer make a difference, not in the morning alone. Hiking warms us up and we get sweaty, so it’s easy to misjudge air temps. Rain plus hiking sweat make us vulnerable, especially in an inexperienced or over confident group. Having a reliable lightweight thermometer can assist in driving home the importance of dry clothes, fire and huddling together when they are needed Now! A thermometer is a tool to better understand what one is experiencing while learning wilderness camping. Can one survive without it. Yes. But it’s more fun and reassuring to have one. I use these on my hiking and camping gear. I like to know the temperature when I am in the woods. The zipper pull thermometers are perfect for what I need. I keep one each on the zipper pull of my sleeping bag, and on the shoulder straps of my day pack and backpack for easy temperature reading. The durability and quality seem good. I like that they glow in the dark. The numbers are small, so I need glasses to read them.

The gauge was inaccurate by 5 degrees or more. Simply can’t use it

It is small and light. Nice ring to attach to pack or zipper pull. Decent quality. Just don't let it get wet. Cardboard/paper back. Reads 80F in 77F ambient. Tiny print is difficult for my old eyes to read. Should have gone with a larger model. Will still use it. Accuracy is close enough for backpacking.

Took this camping to watch the temperature for our generator. It was accurate and did the job. It also glows in the dark which was nice when you needed it to find it in the dark but not to read it in the dark. I would purchase it again:)

It's what I said it was in the title. Not the brightest glow in the dark item but will probably help you locate your tent zipper at night. As for the thermometer, it seems fairly accurate. I'll probably get a couple more. One for my hammock & one for my backpack.

Weighs next to nothing, reasonably accurate, and because it's a simple alcohol thermometer there's no batteries etc.It would be nice if the temperature graduation marks were further apart so you could more easily judge temperature to the degree, but the item would probably need to be larger and weigh more to make that happen so I'm okay with it. :)
