This book is another one of Hal Leonard’s music books for various instruments. It contains the music for 117 songs from a wide variety of movies. It is a somewhat amplified version of an earlier Hal Leonard publication (50 Years of Movie Music)—each book contains some songs absent from the other. And some songs one might expect to see in this book were printed in yet another Hal Leonard book (Broadway Showstoppers). The songs are arranged alphabetically and printed on large format (12” x 9”) pages, usually one song per page; the longer songs are printed on adjacent pages, so it is never necessary to turn pages while playing a single song. This is a useful companion to the customary etude books, whose etudes usually present an unvarying succession of quarter notes, eighth notes, triplets, or running sixteenth notes. Using this book, students can supplement their method books with more interesting material. And this book presents rhythmic situations students might not encounter in method books. Some of these songs are very basic; some are more challenging. But all should be accessible to intermediate level students. They are in a limited number of keys (Bb, C, D, and F and G), and nearly all notes fall within the treble clef—only rarely does the music go as far below the staff as the A on the second ledger line, or as high as the G above the treble clef. Despite the limited number of keys, this book could be useful for introductory practice in transposition. This book provides material that is both entertaining and educational—it is an important contribution to the literature for beginning and intermediate trumpet players.

The book is well written and inexpensive. Some songs like Hallelujah you'll probably want to add your own little twists just for fluidity sake. As for are these Songs in the wrong key for B-flat trumpets...Based on a comparison of the Disney Songs for B-Flat trumpets, they were Identical. I suspect all they did was ask the companies if they could just use their songs, paid a royalty price, and then they copied and pasted the music from their movie edition movie books. It should be noted that these are for solo playing, thus may not exactly match the movie or shows that they originated from. During production it's likely changes were made to the movie or show and so on and then the book were released ahead of the movie and they wouldn't necessarily reflect exactly what's playing in the movie. There are trumpet books though that you can find that were specifically made to play along with the movie sound track or the movie...Lord of the Rings is one that I can thing of from the top of my head.

A lot of great, well known songs for an intermediate player. Some of the songs are a bit easier than I would hope for and some are slightly more challenging than I would have expected which makes for good variety. A bargain for the price!

I like and am familiar with mostly every song, sounding in a familiar way. Really good book.

As a trumpet player, the french horn is similar in many ways. I bought the technique books which helped me get the fingering etc., but I got bored just playing scales and technical studies. I wanted something JUST FUN. This book is rather simple, but it will take you back several decades and help you to remember those songs you love so much!! Then you can go back to scales studies etc. ENJOY!!

Enjoyable easy playing of the tunes we know from the movies, whilst we ready ourselves to tackle Paganini a wee bit later.
