My younger brothers managed to somehow break the screen after a few years of use, rendering the whole system effectively useless. TL;DR: This is the part you need - tread carefully though, it's not an easy repair.The Wii U's gamepad is nearly impossible to find by itself, neither gamestop nor vintage stock had any available. I found one on craigslist and another at a thrift store, but both times the system with the essential controller was $150.I'm fairly handy and tech-savvy, but this is no walk in the park. You will absolutely want to follow along with youtube walkthroughs, and it still might not go perfectly. There are about a dozen ribbon cables and plugs that will need to be removed and re-attached...take your time (2-3 hours), one wrong move and you'll brick the whole unit.I had a successful repair, but stumbled twice:There's an especially fragile piece of plastic that sits underneath the screen to frame the display. It does not come as part of this (or any) kit and you'll need to scrape it off the old device with a utility knife. I managed to get it off in one piece, but while trying to wipe off residual glue- I snapped it, and had to superglue it back together. It's fine now and you can't notice - I did NOT glue it to the new screen. It sits snug enough inside a seat in the controller and the other components will keep it in place once it's reassembled.Also...and this was probably my biggest fumble...DO NOT REMOVE THREE protective films from the screens. There are ONLY TWO (with pull tabs) that are meant to come off. I got over-eager and pulled off one extra plastic film that is meant for the outermost part of the touchscreen. I had to order a set of screen protectors that worked perfectly as a replacement, but they were a pain to attach and added another two days to the repair time while I waited for the delivery.Reading some of the other reviews- I noticed some people had difficulty with the touch-screen losing functionality, but mine worked PERFECTLY after replacing the part. If you do everything correctly, this will repair your device.

Bought a used wii u with a broken screen. This kit came with pretty much all that is needed. I used some 90% isopropyl to soften the glue on the plastic bezel of the broken screen. If you don't reuse that part you will see the metal bezel of the replacement screen. I didn't reglue that bezel so it slides around a bit but doesn't get in the way of the picture. If you need a replacement screen this is the one you want.

Worked perfectly. Install wasn’t too bad, just tedious. You do need an additional small Philips heads screwdriver. Watched a YouTube video and ended up turning it off halfway through because it was pretty easy to figure out. You do lose the little black bezel on the original Nintendo piece. Not a big deal to me at all.

Did what I expected it to. I swapped the ribbons like some of these id10ts didn't do. Instead of complaining, how about using that thing between your ears? It works just fine. My only suggestion is included a small small flat tip and conductive glue. If you want this to work like new, you need to completely disassemble it.

Easy to install no issues

My screen was scratched but functional, so I wanted to replace it to make it look nice again. Thought I’d throw a new digitizer in just because.I broke one of the snaps that holds one of the smaller ribbons in place, now the pad won’t detect touch. When I hold the ribbon in place it works. :( The parts inside are very delicate and easy to break, and once that happens your gamepad now has another issue.Also the new screen didn’t work. Not sure if I messed it up or if it was defective. Before reassembling, I powered the gamepad on to make sure everything worked. Sure enough I had missed a ribbon as there are several and they are easy to miss. The screen came on, but touch didn’t work. Found that ribbon (broke the snap! Damn!), now the screen is dim and blurry. I put the old digitizer back in and the screen was perfect, but of course no touch. Tried the new one again, still messed up. Decided to go with the old digitizer with new screen, but cracked the new screen trying to separate the adhesive. So now I’m back where I started but with no touch control, and unfortunately that snap is part of the gamepad not the digitizer, so ordering another set won’t fix anything. I’ll have to get a new gamepad to get the touchscreen back.Tips for install: The small ribbon next to the very big ribbon at the top of the digitizer is the one whose snap I broke on the gamepad. Be very careful! There’s another very small ribbon connected on the side of the digitizer which seems to provide power to the screen; it is also very delicate and easy to miss. If your screen doesn’t power on, check that you got this one.Don’t reassemble the back of the controller until you’ve powered on the gamepad and checked that everything works, or you’ll have to unscrew/screw 10 screws!
