I bought this lock for a 4 day ride on my Suzuki Vstrom, and it was perfect. The instructions for setting my combination were simple and I had it set in less than 2 minutes. My combo worked first time/every time from then on. The lock and cable have a coating on them to protect the bike so I now just leave it on the bike even when I'm not using it. I used the lock on my trip in two ways. First, the main lock was used for my helmet. But I also ran the coiled cable through the handles of my soft luggage tailbag to avoid a "grab and run." I probably had room to lock my jacket too if I'd stretched the cable full out, but I never tried that so I'm not sure. As far as other reviewers' concerns: I rode through rain for a full day of my ride and the lock combo/mechanism worked just as smoothly as before my trip. Concerns about the ability of thieves to defeat the lock, let me say this: this is a light/medium duty lock. Don't lock your wife's diamond ring with this. A thief with a couple of large crowbars and midsize cable cutter could defeat this lock/cable. But more heavy duty locks are not realistic for quick lock/unlock situations on a motorcycle. This stops the "opportunity thief" and also adds significant time to an even more determined one. Bottom line is that this lock does exactly what it says it will do at a very fair price, with the added benefit of not having another key to carry around.

Update: When I first set it up I entered my code left to right with the hinge on the left. The code is supposed to be entered top to bottom with the latch on top (the numbers right side up). So I accidently set my code backwards, and that kept working because I kept entering the code left to right with the hinge on the left. When I forgot I had done this (which was easy to forget because I did it accidently) and I started entering the code with the digits right side up and not laying on their sides, I was no longer entering my desired code backwards so it no longer opened. Once I realized what I had done, I was able to open it, enter the code I wanted correctly, and now I bet it will work well. Original Review: Quit unlocking after just 3 days of use. Now attached to my bike but can't use it and can't get it off without damaging it. Per some other reviews, I should be able to force it open with my bare hands to get it off. I wonder if the mechanism fails below 32°F because that was the temperature when it wouldn't open. Will try again when it is warmer to see if I can get it off my bike without breaking it.

I ride a 2009 GoldWing. I just used this device to lock down my helmet and bags while on a motorcycle trip from San Diego, CA to Durango, Colorado and another trip to northern California. I only use it when I'm leaving my stuff unattended at a store, gas station, or restroom stop. I don't expect that it will stop someone with bolt or cable cutters, but for that matter, someone could theoretically lift up my entire bike and take it home in their truck. It's not intended for that. It will definitely prevent that walk-by jerk who might want to grab your helmet, jacket, or bags. It comes with a storage pouch and would easily fit in your jacket pocket or anywhere you want to store it on your bike. The cable stretches out far enough to get just about anything you would ever need to secure. I'm very satisfied with the product. I trust it for my own use and I think it's a great gift for anyone you know who rides. I already bought a second one as a gift and I'm looking at my Christmas list for other people too.

Easy and compact snowboard lock. I keep it in my pocket and lock up my board to the rack when I go inside for overpriced food and beer. Not super strong or anything, but will definitely deter crimes of convenience/opportunity ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This lock is well made and sturdy. The cable is similar to a bike lock cable in terms of thickness. I like that it came with a small carrying pouch so I can put it in my tail bag. It was easy to get configured with the lock code and does the job as needed. Definitely recommend if looking for a lightweight, yet durable lock.

Perfect for what I need. Locks my expensive modular helmet to the bike so I don’t have to carry it. I’m sure the cable can be cut with a good pair of cutters but let’s be honest, if they want it they’re going to get it. It’s easy to use and I can even see the combo numbers with a little bit of ambient lighting. Plenty of cable to lock multiple helmets, vest, or coat or even the rain cover to the bike. Takes up next to zero space. If you need to it can be clipped to your belt loop and you’d never notice.
