Flawless operation.
Have been using on 180 gallon reef tank for 8 months now and this heater has performed flawlessly. Quality product as one would expect from a reputable company like Eheim. Only small complaint would be the very large size of this heater, make sure yiu have the room to accomodate it before purchasing. Look forward to implementing more of their products in the future.

A Little Bigger Than Expected But A Reliable Work Horse
I ordered this heater to replace a Elite Submersible Preset Heater, 300-Watt that my catfish had broken in a fish free for all freak-out. I have used EHEIM in the past and they have never disappointed me (though I have been confused by them) so I decided to try something new. I was surprised when the specifications said a single EHEIM 300W heater could heat tanks over 100 gallons, but I like the concept of running only one unit. When I received a shipping box that was about 4 feet long, the potential abilities of the heater started to make sense.I was expecting a heater of similar dimensions to almost every 300W heater I have ever owned. EHEIM was not even in the same park. The EHEIM 300W heater is 22" in overall length, with very sturdy, heavy glass and has a thick industrial feel to the power cord. I have found the temperature setting to be the most reliable and accurate I have ever used, and I have used a lot of heaters. The added length has increased the surface area of the heating element and I have found that, so far, one EHEIM 300W unit is efficient enough to heat my 150 gallon tank on its own without it running constantly. I also appreciate that there is no noise associated with the unit switching on or off. My tank temp is very stable and I have noticed zero fluctuation of internal temperature regardless of surrounding room temperature. Let me remind you again, this heater is long. I own a a tank that is 30" tall so placement of the unit is not a problem, but I can see how placement could be difficult for anyone who has a 24" or shorter tank height. Though you could solve this issue by just tilting the heater or placing it horizontally, but in some situations I could see how the heaters size might be a problem. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall performance of the EHEIM 300W heater. It isn't the perfect heater, but I have been very pleased with it and unless something unusual happens, I will continue to rely on it for my heating needs. Pros: Price, sturdy build, greater surface area, almost perfect temp setting, stable heating, quiet Cons: Much longer length than other heaters

Its massive
I didn't realize how big this was, I mean, I looked at the size and figured it should be good. It states its rated for 180g which is nuts.
