Can you use it without a filter?

Yes and also you have poeple claiming the stones don't work. The reason it doesn't work for them is because they are filtering the water after it's alkline for example in a gravity fed filter like Berkeley which removes the minerals required for alkaline as it passes through the filters resulting in lower pH. The water should be filtered first then added to the stones.

Why would using the stones expose you to lead, is there lead in the stones?

California Prop 65 flags all water filtration products as being potential for lead exposure. These mineral stones are natural Maifan stones or Bakuhanseki which have naturally occurring traces of lead (no more than the amount you might find in anything mined from earth).

Should I take the old minerals out of the santivia before replacing?

Yes if you’ve had them for 2 years. Check the Santevia Water Systems Mineral Stones website if in doubt what to do.

Does this contain the precious prills?

Easy enough to setup , rinse, boil for 1 min, dry and add to base of water tank. Will see if theres any change over the coming weeks. As another buyer stated, water tasted like stale ice cubes - a little coarser on the tongue also. I flushed out the filter water - Id reccomend doing this a second time. Seems better now.

I'm not sure if these are from volcanic rock but since drinking water using them i've been spewing lava. i'm not sure if that's a good thing but i feel better for it

Waste of money. Water tastes bad. No increase in ph levels.

Fast delivery but been using for about a week now in a berkey water filter and a after following instructions just seems to make the water taste funny. Like the tank needs cleaning. But it is clean? Tested the water and no improvement to ph level or taste.

I added these stones to my water filter on the kitchen counter, as it purified the water so well, it lacked taste. I let the stones soak overnight and it put flavour back into the water by adding the minerals. Great taste.

Game changer for my zero water filter

I have a zero water filter and knowing all the minerals are removed I wanted to find something to add the essential minerals back in so after some research I ened up here. The flavor is very refreshing and better than my favorite bottle water "deer park" I did a TDS test before adding and it was at zero and after 2 days my water was reading around 35 ppm. I highly recommend these stones for filtered water
