Kowa TSN-501 Spotting Scope

I found nothing else this size and weight that has 20x-40x magnification. Perfect for my needs. Did find it cheaper at two places but shipping was faster here. Performs as expected. Well constructed.

Just compared this scope with a more expensive 65 mm E.D. scope. The scopes were used side by side in the mountains to glass for deer, elk, bear ect. Even though it is less than half expensive, the little Kowa compared favorably or almost equal in many respects, but at much less than half the weight. Clear image, super lightweight, sits rock solid on a ultralight tripod, and fast to find subject. One super back country critter gitter ! Years later, still my "all the time" pack scope. weight is unbeatable. I keep mine in a repurposed screw top plastic container to resist the wear of year round packing.

Hoping for crisp pictures even at 40x, but distortion becomes untenable at the outer / upper magnification ranges, even in sunny conditions.

I bought this specifically for it's size and weight for use on hunting trips. It has met and exceeded my expectations for the price and is à great value.

Very convenient and in my opinion the quality of optics are well over this price point, it is a compact scope and that is what you get.
