Much faster than any SSHD Hybrid Drive
I bought the 1TB version, as I didn't like the idea of keeping a small SSD drive and a big HDD for my setup as many other people have been doing. Because of this, I delayed my purchase of a primary SSD drive on my system until prices came down a lot, especially for the 1TB version. System Specs: I5 2500K Gigabyte GA-Z68P-DS3 (BIOS F9) Corsair 16GB Ram EVGA GTX 970 I downloaded Samsung's Data Migration Software and easily cloned my Seagate 2TB SSHD Hybrid Drive; I had about 190GBs of data to clone. I switched the SATA cables around and the system booted up with no problems. The first boot up was fast, but not as fast as I was expecting. I installed Samsung SSD Magician and found my system was set to IDE mode. Went into my BIOS and indeed found it set to IDE. Just to give you a little backstory, I had just done a complete reinstall of Windows 10 about 2-3 weeks prior to this install due to issues with overclocking I had done which corrupted the Windows System files. Having set everything to default for the Windows 10 install, it apparently defaulted the system to IDE mode, and I hadn't noticed it at the time. I've read online that to get the best performance from this SSD, it's best to use AHCI mode. I went ahead and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 again, since Microsoft makes it so easy to do so now, in regards to activation. After making the necessary changes in my BIOS, the Windows 10 install was quick and easy. I'd say it took half the time, if not less, when compared to the Seagate SSHD just 2-3 weeks ago. Now with the fresh install of Windows 10, everything just feels snappier and Windows 10 boots in about 4 seconds starting from the Windows logo. I've set the OS optimization to Maximum Performance via Samsung SSD Magician, Rapid Mode disabled. Samsung SSD Magician reported 546MB/s and 509MB/s, read and write. Also, random read IOPS at 94.2k and random write IOPS at 71.7k. It's not the fastest I've seen when compared to other people's stats, but it is still blazing fast from my experience. HWMonitor reports between 28-33 degrees Celsius. With my system being six years old now, I once had Intel Smart Response SSD caching setup for the first few years of its life. I used a 30GB SSD which I still have and it still works flawlessly. Due to unforeseen issues, I stopped using Intel's SSD caching. I did notice a slight increase on load times when I stopped using the SSD caching, but I don't ever remember the SSD caching being as responsive and as quick to load applications when compared to using this SSD as my primary drive. It's really a world of difference. When comparing SSD and SSHD speeds, there is no comparison. Don't let all that marketing mumbo jumbo from Seagate's SSHD advertisements fool you, the SSHD just can't keep up, speed wise. Those SSHD drives though, in my experience, are rock solid reliable. I have three Seagate SSHD drives right now and they all work perfectly fine. I tested Skyrim Special Edition and found load times short, to where I spend less time looking at those 3D model load screens and just playing the game. Next, I loaded up Endless Legend, which is notorious for long load times, but didn't find much of a big difference of load times between the SSD and SSHD drives. Any difference would be about 10 seconds in length when loading a new game. I guess I can't expect everything to load in under 10 seconds or less. Currently, I'm playing Starcraft 2's campaign from the beginning since I just bought Legacy of the Void for cheap, and found the load times for this game very quick, about 5 seconds to load a campaign map (though I don't remember what it was like before, it's been years since I played these games). Didn't notice any increase in FPS on any of the games I tested and I wasn't expecting there to be. After over a week of use, it's just made using the computer so much better, not having to wait around for things to load or install. I'm so impressed with the speed of SSD that I want to update the rest of my computers in the house with SSDs, only for the lack of money I haven't done so already. For the past several years, I have preferred to use my iPad for daily stuff like browsing the web, paying bills, etc., partly because apps just loaded so much faster on the iPad, than having to load anything on my computer. Especially since I don't keep my computer on 24/7, I turn it off when it's not in use. Now, I can boot the computer in a fraction of the time it used to take; I think I may begin using my computer just a little bit more than usual. For an almost seven year old computer, that's not bad at all.

Super fast SSD for an old iMac 2007
I chose Samsung 850 EVO 2.5inch 1TB drive for my upgrade for better warranty and read/write speeds. I spent 3-5 days skimming through forums catching up on others that have my same iMac 7,1 (mid 2007) 20inch, but I couldn't find anyone specifically saying this SSD would work. Huzzah, it did! For anyone else out there that want to stretch some more years out of their old iMac, I did start with this reputable manufacturer's website wizard to check on what works for my Mac. [...] I already got my system upgraded to 4GB RAM, but why did I decide to upgrade my 320GB HDD this late in the game?? Well, funny thing. I thought I had a bunch of malware on my old HDD, as it was booting up, shutting down, running apps super SLOW. Usually, slowness is a good indication. Now, my OCD really wanted to nuke those malware bytes in memory, so I elected to run a 35 pass drive wipe. This probably pushed a near 10 year old drive over the edge with it's worn out moving parts. Firing up the old Mac OS X Lion installation CD, then eventually getting all the way to downloading El Capitan after the usual updates, the installation wizard detected S.M.A.R.T errors and stopped the installation. When I upgraded the RAM, the system did seem like it got a boost, and well, this system overall is still working very well for web surfing, so I checked out what other people had to say about their old iMacs. Looking at the Mac's System Profile and Apple.com tech specs, it was very hard to find specifics to what level SATA the mobo is running. It appeared to be SATA i. In the Crucial wizard, you will find the suggestion is for a SATA iii drive (SATA 6.0Gb/s). I found on some forums where people were saying the Mac's old HDD is actually connected to SATA ii. After my installation, I can confirm, YES, the Mac is on SATA ii (3.0 Gb/s). For novices like me in this realm, each level SATA is apparently backwards compatible. I found this following article, [...] Ok, I'm sure some of you are still asking, why go with a SATA iii 1TB SSD Drive? For me, I'm thinking ahead. When this iMac is completely done and useless even with web surfing, then I can still repurpose this SSD on a new system. Samsung 850 EVO - 1TB - 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E1T0B/AM) I followed the build steps exactly and worked out perfectly. Even though, this video is for HDD to HDD upgrade, it will work with the Samsung SSD. [...] when you use this or a similar adapter. NewerTech AdaptaDrive 2.5" to 3.5" SATA Drive Converter Bracket The adapter frame appears to be aluminum and very sturdy, but very light. I know some people mentioned they had a DOA or soldering was bad and had a short, and someone mentioned the included screws did not fit. However, I was lucky and did not encounter any issues. For anyone that wants to just start fresh with a new OS install without cloning your old drive, when you go through the Mac OS X installation CD, and your drive is not listed, it is because you need to go up to the Utilities menu and format the drive with Mac OS X Extended (journaled) with GUID. I hard restarted the system 3 times before I realized that I needed to format the new drive, so the installation wizard can read the drive. In the end, my iMac got a rebirth with the new and much faster drive. It is booting up, shutting down, and launching apps way faster. Keep in mind, when the SSD is backwards compatible, it will not reach it's full drive potential. Check out the details that I posted above from SanDisk.

Replace your LAPTOP (and DESKTOP) HD with an SSD
I'm rating this at 3 stars. Not b/c of the drive, but b/c of the SAMSUNG Software -AND- AMAZON. You can read about how useless the software is elsewhere, but READ HERE for how useless AMAZON PRIME is. SHIPPING: It did ARRIVE ON-TIME... in a brown, BUBBLE-WRAP ENVELOPE? WHAT IS THE MATTER W/AMAZON? I ordered a SAN DISK ULTRA DISK from AMAZON within a day of this disk and it arrived in a BOX THAT WAS WELL PACKED? WHY??? So, about the rest: This disk will replace a 1TB 5400 RPM disk that came w/a Dell Inspiron Laptop 17-5749. The software included w/the disk is "probably" ok to just replicate DATA. But what to do if you want to CLONE the disk? I downloaded EaseUS, MiniTool, and several other FREE packages before I got started. The one that worked: DRUM ROLL... MACRIUM REFLECT - the FREE Edition. Download the latest, use it to create a Macrium Recovery Disk. Next, you will likely need to access the BIOS (I did). Restart and IMMEDIATELY tap the F2 key (what I did), or F11/F12 if YOUR machine requires a different key. Change the selections (what I did) for FASTBOOT (I turned it off) SECURE BOOT (I DISABLED IT) BOOT LIST OPTIONS (from UEFI to LEGACY) BOOT PRIORITY (Change first boot device from the current setting to CD/DVD) Save, reset and reboot w/the Macrium Reflect Bootable CD/DVD. Once booted, select Disk Image, select the source disk, the destination, and the partitions to be cloned. I selected "clone this disk" (the source) and selected "all partitions". It will take some time. In this case, there's >= 490GB being xfer'd, so it's going to take some time. as this step is currently under way, I will update once the clone and install is complete. Of course, you will want to restore the original BIOS settings BEFORE you attempt to boot from the newly installed SSD. BTW, while MOST already know this, I will state it explicitly anyway: The above directions are NOT exclusive to moving from a STD Platter hard drive to an SSD. The directions apply when cloning ANY-to-ANY drive. Hopefully, the above will be helpful to someone... it would have saved me some time, rather than having to muddle thru endless reams of information. UPDATE (15 Feb 2016): Cloning w/MACRIUM took almost 12 hours! Since the HD had almost 500GB of data, it wasn't too surprising, though I did think it would only take half that time. Removed the old HD and installed the SSD w/o fanfare. Booted right up; NO ISSUES. While SAMSUNG's DATA MIGRATION software was of little value, the MAGICIAN software was helpful in optimization of the OS for use w/an SSD. The system boots in seconds, rather than a minute or more, Login is just as blazing fast. I also use this laptop for CentOS Linux script development (VMware Workstation 12 Pro), and the Virtualization works much better as well. The original HD was a 1TB SAMSUNG Spinpoint (SATA-II, 5400 RPM). Originally, this HD would saturate (100% busy) for up to 10 mins after boot, and it would OFTEN saturate during normal use. No longer the case w/this SSD. If you can "swallow" the price, and you need/prefer a higher performance system, this is the ticket. Now, hopefully, I won't experience the early failure that other users did. I've purchased a 3TB USB3 drive to be used for REGULAR system image backups. I will update further as time allows, especially if the drive fails. I would update to better than 3 stars (probably 5) if the boob who shipped this SSD to me hadn't shipped it in a bubble wrap envelope. UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE-UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought 2 more, though NOT FROM AMAZON. WHY? B/c the "BIG A" charges TAX!!! So I went elsewhere and got 2 2TB drives (RAID1 for my high powered desktop). Makes a WORLD of difference, though the COST would be prohibitive if this desktop were NOT being used to WORK from home. The std SATA drives were just too slow. So far, so good, just wish that these drives were more like HALF their current price.

Samsung SSD
Samsung is always a good choice. This SSD has been running strong for about a decade. It was easy to install and get windows setup. I don't do lots of deleting and rewriting but its been solid for my OS and games/programs. Uses standard sata power and data cables as usual.

Best Improvement for PC's more value than it's price, and much better Gaming Performance.
I bought Lenovo Y510p 3 weeks ago and I plan to replace HDD. I really thankful that I bought this pc it's less expensive from other gaming machines and easy to open and upgrade, you can change whatever you want. Unlike to buy expensive one that you don't like what is inside. There were no reviews as well for Lenovo Y510p with samsung evo 850 that's why I'm little bit worried to choice EVO 850 or not? But I decide to take the risk. If is not working I will going to use as an external drive. Before I buy this I download first the Data Sheet of Samsung EVO 850 then the Data Sheet of Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024 which originally installed from my laptop. And I saw the dimensions has little bit difference. Spinpoint M8 = Height 9.5 ± 0.2 mm, Width 69.75 ± 0.25 mm, Length 100.3 ± 0.4 mm and the Samsung EVO 850 = 100 Length x 69.85 Width x 6.8 Height (mm). So before after I ordered the EVO 850, I ordered 7mm to 9.5mm Plastic Adapter Bracket. And the width 69.85 to 69.75 maybe I can stretch it, ok let me wait the product to come how will make it fit? I really lucky that you don't need any adapter to make it fit. Sides screw are fit exactly But still I used the Adapter bracket for the height even I don't need. I also bought an IOCREST SATA 6G-USB3.0 connector to migrate the data from my Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024 original HD of my Laptop. The migration was easy to use. But I just out of my mind that open one file while I'm doing it and I got an error message. So I scan my drive C and restart the laptop and do it again, and it's works. Copying process is less than 30mins for all 130GB data. I shut down and removed old Hard drive replaced the EVO 850 and turn back On and all works great. I run the Magician software, optimize disk click apply all and enable the RAPID Disk Mode. after mine I changed also my friends laptop Alienware 14 it's exactly fit with his HD Travelstar HTS727575A9E364 no need any spacer or adapter. Much better performance and much better gaming experience.

Replaced WD 5400 RPM drive in an Acer Timeline Aspire X using StarTech USB3.0 adapter to clone to Samsung 850EVO 1TB SSD
Quick Review: Arrived quickly. Easy to replace old drive. Quick and fast performance. Just got it this week. So far so good! Love it! Detailed Review: I have an Acer laptop from 2011 - an Aspire TimelineX 5830T and currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. It had the original drive bought with the system - a 2.5" WD Blue 640GB / 5400RPM drive. I bought the Samsung 850 EVO 1TB to replace it. I also bought a StarTech USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III hard drive adapter [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HJZJI84]. Both from Amazon. Both arrived quickly (go Prime!) and in perfect new condition. While logged in with the laptop's admin account, I installed the Samsung software that came on a CD with the new SSD - Samsung Data Migration (v2.7) and Samsung Magician (v4.5.1). I connected the SSD to the StarTech adapter and then plugged the adapter into the laptop's USB3 port. After Windows automatically installed drivers, I started the Samsung Migration software. It's very basic. It displayed the source disk and the target disk clearly. I clicked clone. The software displayed how much time it was running and how much time it expected to run. It took a good 5-6 hours for the clone to complete. I shutdown the laptop, opened it up - 1 screw on the back cover, 2 screws holding drive mount brackets to the laptop, 4 screws holding the WD drive to mount brackets. The SSD fit the brackets exactly and slid easily back into the laptop. After pushing the power button, the laptop came to life very quickly. No more waiting for the computer to boot!! YEAH! Windows automatically installed a driver for the SSD. One more reboot and the laptop was full of life! All my files appeared to have been copied and were available. I next ran Samsung Magician. It recognized the SSD as authentic. It showed that AHCI was enabled and the SSD was connected to a SATA III adapter. It showed the SSD's firmware was the current, most up to date, version (EMT01B6Q - whatever that means). I clicked Maximum performance. The disk is very speedy. I used the laptop for a while and then I restarted the laptop and booted into the BIOS where I set a HDD password (the BIOS recognized the Class0 SED feature of the SSD). Now every time the laptop boots, a Samsung screen pops up right after the BIOS initialization (before the Windows boot screen). I enter the HDD password once and in a matter of seconds the laptop boots and is fully usable and very fast. I can't imagine replacing a drive being any easier!

SATA Cloning works but software is BETA.
What the other reviewers say about speed increase is true. Once past the BIOS piece, Windows and the various firewall, virus, spam, etc, programs come up much faster. I did mark one star down because Samsung didn't get implementation right. Why can't the instructions go through SATA transfer? Faster than USB, (HELLO!) and you don't have to buy a special USB/SATA cable if you have a spare SATA cable.. Why have third party cloning software that can't tell the difference between drives? Although it worked, both my drives were shown as C: 850 EVO.. I did see that the old C: drive size was shown correctly and another C: EVO drive was smaller which the clone would go to, so I pressed the start button. That said, the program worked flawlessly with 75MB/S transfer. Although I only had about 141G on my old C drive, the entire process took 29 minutes. Second fault was the transfer was 100% at 26 minutes but the program took another 3 minutes to decide it was done.. You don't know if the program has hung with no dialog box that tells you it will take some time to finish. Although I've moved to a location the has 5MBS down internet vs. the 55 I had before, the various browsers "pop" and the system is much more responsive overall. Given the extended reliability and speed, I'm overall pleased with the upgrade, although needlessly made nervous through it..

Highly recommended for an upgrade!
I purchased this drive to replace the old 5,400 RPM HDD in my wife's Dell Inspiron 7352 laptop. She was complaining about speed, and she wanted the same amount of storage space. So I checked around for the best SATA III on the market that fit my needs: 1. Offered an SSD with 1 TB of storage 2. From a reliable SSD manufacturer 3. Is competitive regarding read/write speeds and I/O The Samsung 850 EVO checked all of the boxes, so after doing all of my research, and reading several reviews, I came to Amazon Smile and ordered it. I also ordered a USB 3.0 to SATA III cable for the data transfer - Samsung offers software that makes this a breeze - along with a case to house the previous 1 TB HDD for external storage or backups. I received about $200 in Amazon gift cards for my birthday and for Christmas, so it made buying all of this much easier on the wallet. I have worked on computers and changed out hardware before, so this wasn't going to be my first time, but I still brushed up on the process for installing this drive in my machine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I planned on waiting until the weekend, but once the package came I opened everything and got to work. From the time I started removing screws to the time when my wife had a functioning computer was about 90 minutes (I reset a few things and made a few changes). Very simple as long as you take your time. I will say - every positive review I read about this drive was spot on. If you are using a spinning platter hard drive and want to speed up your PC, changing over to a solid state drive will be the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to see an immediate improvement in speed. The laptop was snappy. It was like a new computer. I ran a few speed tests - first with essentially nothing on the drive, followed by a few more as I added software and made changes, and then a final one before I returned the laptop to my wife. Everything that Samsung claims about this drive is true. If you are restricted to the options you have for upgrading your computer - buy this drive. You will not regret it. I haven't seen my wife use a computer so much in my life. She normally surfs the web on her iPad and now she's reaching for her laptop when she's on the couch. I'm not going to go into a ton of technical detail because you can find that information written by people much smarter than I am on that subject, but I will say that if I had to do it all over again I would have bought the exact same drive. I know Samsung SSDs are top class - and the EVO 850 is no different. SATA III drives are not the fastest drives available nowadays, but if that's what you need spend the money on something fast & reliable.

Melhor investimento

Very fast drive with BIG capacity and HUGE price tag.
Awesome drive. It is 7mm. Installation was smooth. Price is VERY HIGH!!! Very fast shipping from Amazon. Packing was a bit flimsy both from Samsung and Amazon considering the delicate contents and cost of the package. If I was rating it based on price, I would give it 2 stars. However, I am ignoring price in the review.
