Shan - Butter Chicken Seasoning Mix (50g) - Spice Packets for Chicken in Butter Sauce (Pack of 6)

My last purchase of “butter chicken” seasoning mix was from Amazon and then the Simply Asia brand was discontinued. The Shan Butter Chicken seasoning mix is truly amazing and preferable to Simply Asia. It has great flavor and good strong heat from red chili pepper. The seasoning mix is imported from Pakistan and has twice the amount of product in the packet than Simply Asia (50 grams as opposed to 25 grams) which makes a tremendous difference in flavor and consistency. The cooking instructions on the package are straightforward and I prepped everything the night before so it was just a matter of assembling the ingredients the next day. We served it with Madras Lentils (also purchased on Amazon), Basmati rice and Na’an. Excellent. One seasoning packet was sufficient to make a meal that served four adults and in terms of cost (I purchased the six-pack) that one seasoning packet was about $2.50. This excellent seasoning mix continues to be more practical and less expensive than purchasing a simmer sauce in a glass jar that costs substantially more and could possibly break in transit (and then is often not returnable). The Shan seasoning mix is definitely worth getting.

I follow the directions exactly. This makes the best butter chicken I have ever tasted. Perfect heat, not too salty, and flavors pop in your mouth. I eat this once a week. I mae a big batch and freeze it into individual portions because if I do not, I will eat the whole batch in two days.

I enjoyed "Butter Chicken" several months ago while traveling to St. Louis. I was fortunate to happen upon a great Afgan restaurant (Sameem Afgan Restaurant) and ordered their Butter Chicken for lunch. I was so impressed with the very tasty dish that I asked the waitress what spices were in the dish and could I find a recipe online. She went back to the kitchen and returned with the seasoning package "Shan Butter Chicken Mix". Great product!

The butter chicken is delicious with the perfect amount of heat. I brought it to work for lunch and my coworkers couldn’t stop asking what smelled so good, they all thought I got take out.

Amazing flavor and smell. Better than restaurant grade!

Good for a quick meal and easy to use, but the flavor feels a bit mild and not as rich as expected. Still enjoyable, just not quite restaurant quality.

I usually make my own spice blends, but this one was perfect. I changed the recipe up a little. I deglazed the pan after sauteing the chicken with a little stock. I then added a can of tomato puree, and cooked it out for two mins, then added a cup of milk. Put the chicken back in and simmered for 15 mins. Turned off heat, and added a half cup of butter. No need to add cream, came out perfect. I also use chicken tenderloins chopped into 2 inch chunks. Key is also to marinate your chicken overnight in the spice mix, yoghurt and lemon juice.

I ordered it thinking its a butter chicken masala as it shows in picture but its actually is a vegetable biryani masala.. upload correct pictures.
