these clips are used either on Free standing Rug Racks with swinging arms or a 3/4" iron rod mounted 1/4" away from wall or rod can be hanged from the ceiling metal structure with metal chains tied on both sides of the rod. The rod must be screwed in to studs because the rugs are heavy and will pull the sheet rock screws eight out.
