Did you know that high levels of toxins in the human body can be linked to common conditions such as infertility, obesity, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes? With therapeutic guidance designed for clinicians, Clinical Environmental Medicine focuses on how toxins such as arsenic, lead, mercury and organophosphates have become one of the leading causes of chronic disease in the industrial world. The first edition of this text describes how to treat these undesirable elements and molecules that can poison enzyme systems, damage DNA, increase inflammation and oxidative stress, and damage cell membranes. Expert authors Walter Crinnion and Joseph E. Pizzorno offer practical guidance for assessing both total body load as well as specific toxins. In addition, evidence-based treatment procedures provide recommendations for decreasing toxin exposure and supporting the body’s biotransformation and excretion processes. NEW! Unique! Practical diagnostic and therapeutic guidance designed for clinicians. NEW! Unique! Coverage of the most common diseases for which toxins are a primary cause. NEW! Description of how each toxin causes damage provides insights into sources, body load, and interventions for each toxin. NEW! Unique! Entirely evidence-based content focuses on the most common conditions from which patients suffer. NEW! Unique! Coverage of environmental toxicants, endogenous toxicants, and "toxins of choice" focuses on non-industrially-exposed populations. A Lifetime of Knowledge
The Journal of Pediatrics tells us that approximately 27 trillion pounds of chemicals were produced in or imported into the United States per year in the early part of this decade, which is the equivalent of approximately 74 billion pounds/day (nearly 250 pounds per person). This number does not include fuels, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, or food products. That 'stuff gets into our bodies. Flame retardants in gymnasts, 180+ toxic chemicals in the blood of newborns, the leaching of phlates from plastic wrap into our food, the list goes on and on. Overwhelming to people, and to doctors. It's tough to know how to think about this, how to fight this and what to do. When two of the icons in Natural Medicine, who each have studied for 3 decades or more on the topic of environmental pollutants, get together and merge their knowledge, a 'classic' is born. Clinical Environmental Medicine is destined to be a 'Book of the Ages' that thousands of Health Care Practitioners will learn from, and thus help millions of patients in their professional careers. Drs Walter Crinnion and Joseph Pizzorno are to be commended for an incredibly thorough review of the literature with solid recommendations how to help people reduce their toxic load. These two mentors of mine are 'gurus' with the 'Big Picture' of this threat. Anyone who reads this will have the Big Picture on what to do. A reference text of the first degree. Thank you both.

Extraordinary
This text has created an enormous change in the analysis of the etiopathogenesis of diseases. It has taken my ability to understand the origins of diseases to a level that I never suspected. There is no such complete synthesis of environmental medicine anywhere else. Amazing.

Maybe don’t judge a book by its cover
First, I know the content of the book is solid. However, the book itself arrived looking used. Not what I ordered or paid for. Cover is dull and first several pages are bent, black markings on the right outside pages. Would’ve given less stars but like I mentioned the content is solid and inside pages are clean. Plus if the book wasn’t such an investment my expectations wouldn’t be as high.
