This book not only describes the importance of religion for the ancient Mesopotamians, but shows the progression from how their religion started as worship of the forces of nature as they perceived it, into the anthropomorphic pantheon of gods/goddesses that we've come to be more familiar with as well as pointing out how much of the ancient Near Eastern religions were inspired and influenced by it. Great read for avid Assyriologists and/or history fanatics. Review: Informational - Great read
