Viridian Reactor R5 Gen 2 Green Laser Sight and Holster, Laser Class 3R, 5mW Output

Have used Crinsom Trace for years but thought I would try Viridian’s on my new M&P Shield based on price point and instant on feature. Not disappointed. Easy to install, bright, and probably won’t need much adjustment. Be careful not to strip screw heads when installing. Follow up. Am returning this laser. The batteries are difficult to change. The three small screws that must be removed are easily stripped if you are not VERY careful. The magnetic switch does not always switch off, or stay switched off when re-holstering, so the batteries don't last very long. Less than a day in one case. Sorry to return, but not practical for me.

Near impossible to keep at zero because the laser is at the bottom of the sight so it is inches away from the barrel instead of at the top of the sight. So there is a massive change at any different distance which would be halved if the laser was next to the barrel instead of atvthe bottom. Then it moves around whenever you bump the sight, so apparently it isn't very secure either. On/off button is recessed so it is hard to turn on. Supposed to be auto-on but isn't. Not nearly worth the price but one of the only option not costing $300, just a really bad design. Very dissappointing. Then they contact me to offer a refund but it's really just their "permisdion" for a standard return but wonz't say that ubtil I get very specific. I don't need theur permission to return something and if they had lookec I hsve already returned one other product of theirs. Felt insulting and had my time wasted.

BUYER BEWARE: You will not recieve the advertised holster. Instead you will get the one im pisting a photo of. HOWEVER the hokster is great quality and the lazer works great and fits my gun great.

Deducted one star for quirky, poor ECR design. Very bright green laser, easy to install and adjust, accurate. BUT... the ECR Instant-On feature takes some "getting used-to". Don't expect to be able to turn the laser on/off in a defensive situation, as the on/off button is recessed and is NOT the typical push button you find on other laser sights. Turning the laser on takes some doing, and is not something you can do quickly. For ECR Instant-On to work, you MUST use the holster that comes with the G5 ECR Laser, or another holster that supports the ECR Instant-On feature. For Every-Day-Carry (EDC), that means the laser must remain turned on all the time, and shuts off automatically when re-holstered. The ECR Instant-On holster supplied by Viridian works as advertised to turn the laser on and off when unholstered/reholstered, but is pretty much useless as an IWB holster. The plastic belt clip appears to be attached as an afterthought, and allows the gun to rotate freely to a butt-down position inside your pants once attached to your belt. This is totally unacceptable for EDC use, and I can't imagine how this design passed final product review at Viridian. If the plastic belt clip is removed, it works OK as a pocket holster, but that's about it. There are third party suppliers of holsters that fit the LPC2 and support the Viridian ECR Instant-On feature, but they're expensive and take some research to find. I removed the plastic belt clip from the my Viridian ECR holster, and am using it as a pocket holster until I find, or build, a suitable IWB holster that supports ECR Instant-On.

This was purchased as a replacement for my Viridian Red laser but only because my holster was damaged and I can't seem to buy a replacement, so I went for green this time. The laser itself is amazing. Incredibly bright, easy to install, and while accurate out of the box, quick and easy to adjust. The holster, on the other hand? I am less than impressed. Previous holster was a hard shell for outside the pants wear, this one is a leather inside the pant holster. The magnet is either too weak, or not positioned correctly inside to shut the laser off unless it is held just right, which is NOT seated completely into the holster. If held up 1/2" or so the laser shuts off just fine, but that isn't possible when you're actually wearing it. I plan to contact customer service to see what my options are, but for now my rating stands. The laser is a five star, the holster a 1... averaged to three stars. For now.

I bought this from Amazon Warehouse as a damaged box. I have never had an issue buying from the Warehouse, this unit appeared to be a resale returned item. When I contacted Viridian I immediately got an RMA and shipping label. Two weeks later, I received a brand-new unit and a detailed explanation. The internal cover of the original unit had been removed and replaced improperly damaging the unit and causing the on/off button to be damaged and work sporadically. Also the mounting screws in the first unit were in the small parts bag, not installed in the housing in the new unit (that is how I knew it had been mishandled before I received it). So even with the admonishment about “customer damage” I received a “one-time courtesy” replacement. Thank You Viridian!

This is trash: no 3rd party holster supports it anymore. Even the vendor supplied holster does not work (the clip does not hook the belt and withdraws when withdrawing the gun. This is the most poorly designed product I have ever received from Amazon in 20+ years.
