The Book of Questions

Bought as a Similiar Purchase to 100 Love Sonnets
I bought this as a similiar purchase to his 100 Love Sonnets. I read over the description and examples that described this poetry along the lines of.. Questions of the world around him [us] as observations of the world through the eyes of a child, but from the mind of adult. There is no better way to describe this, honestly. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this! I read excerpts to my boyfriend and captivated his attention/curiousity as well, which is quiet hard to do. 😂

It really makes you think!
First off I am not a poetry major- nor am I qualified to write a treatise on poetry. This book has something for everyone, at every level of thought. That said this collection of questions was carefully crafted to make you think and feel. Some make you cry, some make you laugh, but mostly they make you thoughtful about social issues and political issues like foreign policy past present and future! I highly recommend it for any layman like myself who just want something quiet to read and think about when I go fishing. Then go home and talk with my wife about what she thinks about them!!

What is the question?
I don't really read Neruda's love poems, which he is well known for. I also don't know a lot about his political activism, so for me, reading Book of Questions was like discovering a new writer. This version has the original poem and the English translation, which I found interesting to compare in regards to linguistics. On the poems themselves --> There will be at least one, more likely several, poems that will feel like a punch in the chest. As humans, we ask questions all the time. Some of the questions in the book are ones you will have asked yourself or will be the kind to make you tilt your head to see if you can get a better look. All in all, a lovely collection of poetry.

Great collection of koan-like poems by the great and much-loved ...
Great collection of koan-like poems by the great and much-loved Pablo Neruda. Some will make you think, others will make you smile, and still others will touch you deeply.

I actually like the idea of the book better than the questions
Interesting idea for the book. I actually like the idea of the book better than the questions,...which really can't be answered. It truly shows that many questions in life have no answers and are big mysteries.

Master at work
One of his last manuscripts published posthumously. Enigmatic, humble, multi-faced poems as questions and best of all parallel text with the Spanish and lively translation. Beautifully produced book too.

A thoroughly inspirational work
A brilliant mixture of philosophical thoughts and fantasy. Every page provides some element of delight as it causes your mind to consider the world from a different angle and perspective. All of this and it is a translated work! How I wish I could read it as it was originally composed! I honestly think any person will find inside these covers a couplet which stops them in their metaphysical tracks and makes them go. 'I wonder...' How can you put a price on something like that? This kind of artistic brilliance definately represents some of humanities best features. Think I better stop now or people will think I'm winding them up!

Thought provoking
I had seen an extract in something I was doing and this made me buy it - and it was good if not better than I had hoped for. Just a lovely source of simple reading with thought-provoking gems.

Neruda is always great
I mean, absolutely always, but this one is one for the fans. It is not Neruda's selection (or Neruda's title). Not one to start with; get the Odes first.
