All around wonderful watercolor sketch kit from Sakura series
This kit is complete and except for watercolor paper. As with other Sakura Koi portable kits, this has a water brush, two small sponges, and a plastic mixing palette. This is different from the other kits in this line, and most other brands, by the 24 colors within. They are pearlescent, metallic, and fluorescent watercolors. This is not for traditional landscapes but right for fantasy scenes and characters. It gives a special touch to cards. This brand makes a variety of kits, from small to large, with other color choices. Cut some watercolor paper into little cards and fit them in the lid and all can be held in your hand. The ring on the back is for your finger and the palette "legs" will fit to the side. The box does a good job of illustrating this concept too. I own several of these Sakura kits, different sizes and color combos. Their design is well thought out for ease of use, materials, compactness and a good buy too.

Perfect palette, lovely colors
I have the regular color set in the identical palette and I'd recommend that over this if it's your first or only palette. The only drawback is that none of this brand are lightfast so they're only good for sketchbook stuff (neons never are, just embrace it). I actually bought this on sale to use as an empty palette, because I couldn't bring myself to pull the colors out of the other one (they're just plain fun to use). And then I just fell in love with the neons. I might end up decanting the neons into quarter pans (they're more like half that) so I can reuse the palette as intended. Maybe.

Great to travel with
I bought this palette & the Pocket Field Sketch Kit from Koi to travel with! They worked perfect to slide in her luggage without any sort of mess or taking up too much room. The colors of bother are vibrant and the metallics of this set really gave a nice pop and dimension!

To be honest...
I had a lot of expectations for this set. Not only is it one of the most affordable pearlescent set out there, it also comes with florescent colors. I bought their 48 color field sketch and I use it almost daily. I ran into a problem with the 48 color field sketch because the paints were barely half full. I honestly did not expect to have the same thing happen with this one. Some of them are 2/3 or 3/4ths full. I got it replaced and returned the old one, so I got a slightly better one. However, its still not completely full full like it should be. I contacted Sakura about this and they had no answer for me about it. Which I can understand why, its one of the paints in the manufacturing that dried down more than other paints. But it's still less paint than other paints... I also ordered a protection plan for 4 years on it and I don't even know if it's gonna cover anything with a vague "drop, spills, etc". About the actual paint. It's not very pigmented if used with a bit of water, but it does shine very brightly. I have not tried the florescent on black paper but on white paper it's very neon. It dries normally but I would not buy it for the metallics. It's not opaque enough to be considered metallic. I am a beginner and a hobbyist, but I've tried layering the metallic to get that opaque metallic I wanted only to fail. But I've seen many people do amazing things with this paint. Pros: +Cheap pearlescent + flourescent set out there. +Easy to travel with. +Shines brightly on white paper. +Very pastelly colors on the flourescent. (PERSONAL PREFERENCE) Cons -Inconsistent amount of paint in some colors. (I might just be the unlucky one). -Not very pigmented colors. -Metallics are not opaque (do not buy it for the metallics).

Cute functional palette for plein-air or small living spaces. Quality paints
This is my favorite watercolor set. I am still a beginner, and the Koi paints are of decent enough quality to allow me to learn and practice new techniques. They do crack when drying, but they activate quickly. I love the compact design and the flexibility with the removable palette. Depending on my setup, I can position the palette around the paint pans in three different ways, and I think that's neat. The paint pans themselves are labeled by their number, which makes it easier for me to learn and remember the colors as a beginner. The waterbrush is of high quality and superior to others I have purchased. The brush is compact and fits in the palette. Comes with two sponge areas, which also adds to the portability if you want to paint on the go for a bit of plain-air (or live in a small studio like me, where space is a premium!) Very easy to use and set up, excellent value for your money, and convenience! I will buy again for myself and as gifts for others!

Excellent quality watercolor paint
Cannot say enough good things about Sakura watercolors. The coverage is smooth and creamy. These cost more than basic craft store quality paints. The end result is worth the higher price. I highly recommend these watercolors.

One of my favorites
I love the vibrant colors! I have purchased several different watercolor paints, in order to determine which kind I like the most. This one is definitely in the top tier.

These watercolors are even more pearlescent than I hoped for
These watercolors are even more pearlescent than I hoped for. Good for highlighting certain items in my paintings.
