Is this set only good for playing Rummy or can you play Rummikub with it as well?

It IS a rummikub set, not playing cards

Are the numbers recessed? So they don't wear off?

The numbers are recessed. But the pieces are too small and the boards fall over easily. I do not recommend this set.

Are the tiles nice and thick or the cheap very light ones?

The tiles have a nice feel to them, not a plastic feel. Unrelated to the question some tiles do not easily fit in slats of the racks. And as advertised they are very small.

Are the urea tiles the hard plastic ones like in the original game, or like the flimsy ones in the newer games?

Our tiles are made thin for travel but are hard and won't bend.
