Folks, first of all, know what you are paying and set your expectations accordingly. I have a restaurant quality ice maker at work and they are wonderful, then again, it was $1400. This unit at $169 is perfect. Item arrived today, I gave it a quick clean with a sponge and mild soap/water mixture. Rinsed it clean, filled with water and plugged it in. I went ahead and let it go for 45 minutes. Came back to a tray full of ice! Emptied the ice in the trash and refilled the machine with water. Came back 1 hour later to a whole new basket of ice. I filled a glass with ice (medium seemed to work best) and made myself a nice drink. Wonderful! Ice didn't taste bad as I've heard from some people. I've now filled numerous bags of ice and put in the freezer. I'm going to shut off the machine and put it away till I need more ice. Couldn't be happier. If you are looking for a professional ice maker that makes 50-100 pounds of ice every few hours, then you should seek out a different machine. If you are looking for a residential, reliable, quick, easy to clean ice maker, than buy this one!

It functions like a dream, its quiet, makes ice really fast. Keeps ice for a good long time without melting. AND most importantly I never ever have to make runs to the store JUST so my wife can put it in her soda and let it melt. Just a note, I use distilled water as we prefer it here after trying it for a few weeks. This may be effecting the quality of, speed made, and long lasting Ice cubes. I really am impressed and would have no problems recommending this to anyone. Perfect blend of quality and price.

I did a lot of research before finally settling on this ice maker. Even better it was on sale. The scoop is just the right size. It works wonderfully, it made the first batch of ice with in minutes of hooking it up. Our family loves ice and it keeps up with the demand. It’s really quiet while the ice is making. I love the 3 different size options. Would definitely buy again.

We needed an ice maker that was portable that we could use on the counter top. We had other portable ice cube makers in the past that were not as good as this one. The design is very easy to use. It also has an outlet for your water to refill if needed. The indicator on the front lets you know if ice is ready or if it needs more water. You can also choose the size of ice cube you want made. We use ours everyday all day and it has never failed us yet. The silver color is sharp looking and it is quiet when it runs. You can only hear the ice being dropped to the bucket but that's about it for noise. Very quiet but makes a lot of ice at once. Easy to clean as well.

This was an awesome ice machine when we bought it and it worked great between May 2013 until last week. (just about 9 months) And then one day it just stopped making ice. I called the company that makes it and they were the rudest customer service people ever & also said they would cover the parts but wouldn't cover the labor. How crappy is that? So now who knows how much it would cost to fix? Is that really worth the hassle on something that's $159? No... they are banking on making their crappy products, sending them out & having the customer happy for several months just to make it right outside of the warranty timeframe for labor to be covered & then giving up. So this means they never have to pay for parts! How ridiculous! So if you are looking to spend $159 for just 9 short months & don't need it beyond that point.... sure! Buy it! But it you want a good product.... I would recommend a big fat NO!

I've never written a review before after being a satisfied Amazon customer since it's inception. But the one negative review is way of mark and I had to respond in defense of this product. I have never had a single mechanical problem in three years of constant use. Because I am limited with my walking, I always have the machine close at hand by my side. The ice does gradually melt over time in the basket, but the water is recycled into more ice as the compressor switches on and off as needed. Most people may use this only occasionally on a boat or a wet bar, but I use it for soft drinks when in the entertainment room in my basement. Because I am disabled, I do not have to climb the stairs every time I'd like a cold drink. I have a small fridge in the immediate area as well, but ice trays are for the birds. The unit converts water to ice within about 15 minutes, enough for a 64 oz. bottle of soda. For the money I highly recommend it.

This is about the best thing I bought all summer! We've been camping for several years now and typically, the last thing we do is fill up a couple of ice chests with five or six bags of ice. The money spent not to mention the last minute running around when you are ready to leave town can be a hassle. Read a few negative reviews but finally made up my mind after reading one here from a refrigeration expert who explained all these type units are made by just two companies from China. Apparently, the 12" wide models are more dependable and quieter than the smaller ones if set up properly. Anyway, we took the gamble and glad we did. Just pour in a gallon of water and walk away. After a few hours you will have a few trays of ice ready to go. We leave it running and sitting outside. Water is recirculated as the ice melts so there's always fresh ice waiting for you (the colder water makes the ice more solid). You also don't have to buy all that bottled water -- just throw some ice in your Solo cup and add fresh tap water (or whatever). Read all these reviews, there's a couple of minor quirks to be aware of. But all in all, extremely satisfied with this product.

This unit was shipped and received in a timely manner. It is very similar to the one I had before. It is quick in making ice. A couple issues I have are 1.) it is louder than the one I had before, 2.) The placement of the metal temperature bar is such that an ice cube lays on top of it, causing the unit to shut down. The bar is not flush up against the back, therefore permitting the ice cube to lodge between the bar and the back of the water/ice well. My former unit did not have the space between the temperature bar and the back of the water well An ice cube may lodge on the bar from the very first dumping of ice and shuts down the unit. This temperature bar is meant to shut the unit down when the ice bucket is full.
