I’ve read the series, each one got better. I never saw the twist and turns coming in One Bad Deed. This is the best of 5, I’m hoping there will be a 6.

T. M. Payne delivers a gripping and intricately woven narrative in One Bad Deed. The dark atmosphere and compelling characters pulled me into the heart of the mystery. The dual storyline of Dennis Canning's murder and the brutal attack on DI Sheridan Holler's colleague, Anna, created a sense of urgency. DI Sheridan Holler is a captivating protagonist; she is determined yet flawed, and deeply human. Her moral dilemmas and the pressure of the ticking clock heighten the tension, and watching her cross ethical boundaries for justice is quite thought-provoking. The author crafts a web of secrets that connects the past with the present, revealing how long-buried actions can reverberate through time. The twists are well placed, and just when I thought I had it figured out, the story took a sharp turn, and I actually gasped out loud. The ending delivers a satisfying conclusion. Overall, One Bad Deed is a blend of suspense, psychological depth, and moral complexity. It all starts with a fire and loss of life. Retribution happens when people what to settle scores. Good detectives and bad people make for a long story. Even after the crimes are solved the epilogue give much need answers to the story. It was even fun to read the "thank you" section.

This is my 🎧audiobook🎧 review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One night. Two cases. Three deadly secrets. The narrator did amazing job reading out the story per each character and matching the feel of the story. I enjoyed listening to this fast paced and high energy story. I was on edge for every plot twist. Desperate and haunted by the ticking clock on both cases, Sheridan crosses a line she never thought she would. She turns to someone she shouldn't trust―someone who can help her get the proof she needs, no matter the cost to her conscience or even her career. As the cases intertwine and dark secrets surface, Sheridan discovers that some alibis are too perfect―and some crimes are decades in the making. But when you break the rules, the consequences might destroy you. This pulled me into wanting to listen to this audiobook.

It has to be tough to be an investigator when you have to investigate the death of a person that, honestly, you have no sympathy for. Sure, the court system has released them saying they have been reformed. And isn’t that the point of the court system? Rehabilitate criminals. But man, some people have done something so heinous that they deserve what they get. DI Holler and her team are facing such a situation. And while they are diving deep into their investigation, tragedy strikes one of their own. And you would like to think that it is completely unexpected, but deep down, DI Sheridan Holler has been afraid this situation may happen. I don’t want to say too much about the details because to me, that would risk spoiling this novel and also, how special this book is. Especially the situation that happens to one of the team members. Extremely emotional. So, why not 5 stars instead of 4? There is something in the world of professional wrestling that is known as the false finish. They bring you right up to this moment that feels like it has everything wrapped up, and then miraculously, the “loser” kicks out at the 2 and 7/8th count. The crowd stands to their feet! Amazed! Holding their heads in disbelief. Looking at their friends and family as if saying, “Can you believe that just happened?!?” But as any knowledgeable wrestling fan will tell you, if you misuse the false finish, you can ruin a match by taking the fans that have suspended disbelief and brought them back to reality. And it’s a letdown. T.M. Payne gives us such a false finish. And even though I love this series, and quite honestly, I love the outcome of the situation. But it was a false finish. And it took me out of the rest of the novel. The mystery was so good that I still wanted to know how everything was going to wrap up, but it just felt good. Not great. To me, the author missed an opportunity to write such an emotional scene (and finish to a novel) that people would have been talking about it for quite some time to anyone and everyone that they could get to listen to them talk about this major development in a novel. Like I said, I’m happy with the end result. But once the author lead us to that point, they had such an incredible opportunity to show the world what a dynamic author they are.

One Bad Deed by T.M. Payne is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that kept me hooked from the very first chapter. The story is packed with tension, unexpected twists, and just the right amount of suspense to keep the pages turning late into the night. The characters are well developed and believable, making it easy to become invested in their lives and the mystery surrounding them. T.M. Payne does an excellent job of building suspense while revealing clues at just the right pace, leading to a satisfying and surprising conclusion. Book 5 in the DI Sheridan Holler series and what an incredible read it was. There’s something truly special about the characters in these books, it feels like catching up with old friends every time I dive back in. Each instalment somehow becomes my new favourite, and this one is no exception. This time, things get personal—and honestly, this book left me devastated. At one point I genuinely wanted to stick it in the freezer (Friends fans will understand that reference!). Sheridan really lays everything on the line here, showing just how far she’s willing to go to get the right result, even if it means making some morally grey choices. While the story is heavy in places, there’s always a thread of humour running through it, giving you just enough breathing space before the next twist hits and they definitely hit hard. If you’re looking for a gripping police procedural with a kick-ass female lead, this series is absolutely for you. I’ll never stop recommending these books, they’ve earned permanent pride of place on my bookshelves. And finally, all praise to Maud for her star appearance in this 🐈‍⬛

I don’t think I’ve ever finished a book in this series and not said ‘wow’. This is the best series I’ve ever read and I’m starting to feel like Tina is incapable of writing a book that doesn’t deserve 5 shining stars. All my bookish friends know how much I love this series, but I also want to voice how much appreciation I have for the author, Tina. Not just for her amazing plots, lovable characters, and ability to write about such heavy subjects without bringing the reader’s mood down, but I also appreciate Tina so much because she genuinely cares about the serious issues she writes about. She was an investigator in the domestic violence unit, and as someone who cares so deeply for women’s rights, reading her author’s note actually put tears in my eyes. She is genuinely a lovely person and she will always be an auto-buy author for me. Please, if you haven’t started this series yet, pick it up because it is that good. I have rated every book in this series 5 stars. Lastly, as always Tina, thank you for Maud 🐾

Another great book from TM Payne and the 5th book in the Sheridan Holler series. This book is definitely worth a read as is the series. It twists and turns and leaves you anticipating what might happen next. It's written in a format that makes it easy reading and you get to know the characters and how they have arrived at the stage they have in the book. TM Payne has much knowledge of policing, crimes and the criminal justice system, making her books in-depth and realistic. They are always and eye-opener. I'm awaiting book 6 now. It took me only 5 days to finish this book. That's unheard of for me. Well worth a read.

The downside to a good book is that I can’t put it down and nothing gets done, this was one of those!

Omg I've read these 5 books in this series in 2 weeks they are brilliant. I do so hope T M Payne doesn't keep us waiting for book 6. Highly recommend this book and series
