Beautiful, well-made garment. Yes, of course it bleeds at first. I had a dress made from this same process and fabric back in the 70's and I loved it. I always washed it out by hand in cold water and hung it in the shower. I expect to see a ton of green dye, but they DO warn ya! I think I'll refrain from wearing anything underneath it for at least until I get a chance to wash it again. Yes, I DID rinse it out in tepid water, no soap, the first time. I'm gonna search for another style by the same maker. LOVE! EDIT: 07/2025 So I finally got around to hand rinsing the garment, as I normally do with similar fabrics. I used a little fabric softener with tepid water, and rinsed 3 times. Against my better judgement, I opted out of wearing gloves, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. I simply rubbed olive oil into my hands and nails, and then gave them a good wash. I WILL wear gloves next time! YES, quite a bit of dye comes out, but I think this will fade in time. It's just a minor inconvenience, not a disaster. I straightened it out as well as I could, then hung it on a decent hanger in the shower. I can already see it will be just fine. Maybe a light press at most. I'll be wearing this one mostly with flowy-baggy boho pants or may be jeans, so every little wrinkle is not a big deal. Don't be afraid....it's worth the minimal effort!

Shirt looks so nice on. It has ties in the back to enhance your waist. Very well made and lovely fabric

I don't have a lot of money for clothes, but i wanted something nice for a special occasion. The top was cute and it fit well, so I decided to go ahead and wash it. This was not my first hand-wash-only garment so I thought I knew what to expect. I soaked and rinsed it first to cut down on excess dye. The dye bled out and wouldn't stop bleeding. After thirty rinses (yes, 30!) it seemed like enough of the excess dye had come out that it should have been safe to wash it. I added the mild detergent I usually use for hand-wash-only garments, and even more dye came out! It was almost like i hadn't pre-rinsed it at all! By then, I was in tears. My hands, fingernails, and sink were stained. And I was feeling sick. Whatever dye process the manufacturers use, they need to rethink it. Whether I will wear this top to my special occasion or not remains to be seen - I don't want to be scrubbing turquoise dye off my skin for a week. What I do know is that buying this top was a mistake that I will not repeat.

Comfortable colors are beautiful. I have a blue one and a brown one I love lay down. I love the way the back ties and lays down it gathers. I recommend this top.
