worked well in grassy back yard
Chair arrived and was easy to assemble. It comes partially assembled, and there aren't a lot of steps to put it together. No tools required. Easy enough for one person to put together. The box was missing some parts. Called seller, got replacement parts shipped to me promptly, and also advice on how to make do with parts from hardware store if desired (great customer service from Fields Outdoor Supplies). Wheels are not inflated on arrival, so you'll need a bike pump to inflate them. I didn't have one handy, so had to run out and buy one before we could use the chair. Overall the chair worked well over a large grassy back yard with lumpy soil and uneven areas. The wheels don't turn, so it doesn't corner or turn easily at all. But if you lift up on the handle at the back, you can pivot the chair on the front wheels a bit, even with a person riding in it. I have not had a chance to try it in the sand or on other surfaces yet. There is no brake for the wheels, so you either need to have someone holding the chair still while the rider gets in and out, or you need to back it up against a wall or something sturdy to keep in in place while the person riding gets in and out of the chair. There is no seat belt, but we didn't find it necessary. The foot rest is held up out of the way by a strap that snaps to the frame. When unsnapped, the footrest folds down into position and worked fine. The seat and back are OK, but they are just strong mesh. I used a large, thick two part cushion designed for a lawn chair to add extra cushioning to the seat and back of the chair for added comfort for the person riding in the chair. Overall, a well built product. And giving access to areas that have been inaccessible to a family member in a wheelchair is a huge benefit for us. Big smiles from the person being wheeled around in areas they haven't been able to get to in a long time!

Outstanding customer service
I have a rental business and have four of these all from Fields. My customers love them. It is true that they are not the easiest to maneuver, but the other option is to buy the much more expensive ones with swivel wheels, and the sand actually eats away at those swivels very quickly, so I prefer these. We normally transport them fully assembled in a cargo van, but I love that I can take them apart if a customer wants to transport them themselves, or on the occasion that I get to drive a smaller vehicle! I have actually transported one in my Subaru Crosstrek with no problems. Field's service has been outstanding. When I first purchased them I contacted them asking for some additional parts since I am using them as rentals and things get lost and broken, I just wanted backups on hand. After owning them almost a year, one of my tires went flat and they replaced it as well.

Buying this again if/when it needs replacing
This wheelchair was awesome in the fact that it allowed us to get our 8 year old son down to the beach and into shallow water. It was lightweight and easy to put together and breakdown for our trip. The customer service is A+, we had a wheel that messed up on the ride down before we got to use it for the first time and they overnighted us one no questions asked. It is a little hard to make tight turns with, but you can pop it up on the back wheels and make them easily. Would definitely recommend this to anyone with physical disabilities. It rolls well on deep sand as well as hard packed sand. I plan on adding some sort of floatation device to it so that he can get out in the waves before our next trip to the beach. I found the tires air up best with a 12V pump that plugs into the truck as it does not push air as fast and will screw on to the tube.

Too bulky to manoeuvre and useless
Too pricey for its a very bulky chair and very difficult to make any turns with this chair and I have not taken it to the beach yet! I mean on hard surfaces is difficult to make turns so I do not see how it’s going to work getting to the beach. Hard unless a flat thin layer of packed sand and you still have to use a regular wheelchair off tge beach and transfer to this only if beach is packed sand. I should have returned as we could not use it not once and is collecting dust sitting in my garage

Extremely difficult to maneuver!!
Super difficult to turn. There are no support belts for the occupant. No customer service to ask about accessories and is short so the person pushing the chair needs to bend over to push. Works great on sand if you don’t need to turn.

It takes muscles
It depends on the terrain. Some sand is more dense and it will work better when it’s packed, rather than very fluffy sand. They take some muscle power to push a distance. I think they are designed not for a long stroll but merely for getting to a short distance and back. On hard surfaces regular wheel chairs are much easier. Making turns is not so easy either, either need to lift the back to pivot or put more pressure on one side than another. My mom is going to be 99 and my dad is 100, they love the beach and without these, limited as they are, they would not be able to see the beach so I think they are worth it. I like that the design is simple easy to take apart and put back together to pack. I have two in my suburban, along with two normal wheel chairs for the street. I have seen others that are more expensive but have not tried those out.
