A beautiful book.
What a wonderful and beautiful thing this book is. I count myself lucky to have picked this latest edition up in a black friday deal for less than half price.I've always wanted a Times edition of the World atlas and i finally have it.For anyone who is considering this book, because lets face it, it's a huge outlay of cash even at the price i paid, it truly is a wonderful thing to behold when you open it - the large scale maps are beautifully printed, sharp and fabulously detailed - i wish my grandma was still alive to see it - i always think of her with an atlas open on her lap and i know she would have loved this book. This is a treasure i will leave to my own children, who hopefully will enjoy it as much as i do.

Best I’ve ever bought
I was hanging my nose over this for a while and considering the smaller version and some other cheaper types. Glad I didn’t this is superb, I’ve had it a few months and the pain of paying a lot of cash for this has subsided but the beautiful book remains and will do so for years to come.I love it.One thing one of the reviews I read said that the centre of the pages are bound too tight and you can’t see the middle parts well. I didn’t find that at all it was superb.

A ‘must have’ for a map person
My husband is a map man ... he reads them like I read a book, so an Atlas of the world is a necessity in our house. This volume replaced a much loved and thumbed model from twenty years ago, which somehow got mislaid during a house move. Yes ... I know it beggars belief that a tome this size might be mislaid ... but mislaid it was!It doesn’t disappoint ... it’s a beautiful reference book which I would highly recommend to anyone who is a map lover. Don’t hesitate.

Great all-rounder to improve your knowledge of the world
Enjoying thematic layout which makes it easier to follow the very detailed explanations.Front cover is rather boring compared with a previous version that I’m replacing with this latest. But excellent as a general layman’s guide.

Excellent new 15th edition
I took delivery of the new Times Comprehensive World Atlas yesterday. It is beautifully produced and there is even more clarity than previous editions with, e.g., the colouring of the maps. A wonderful new addition to the collection!

Not as good as the previous editions due to the poor introduction and less pages.
The maps are impressive. The introduction, is as simple as possible, photos hardly exist or very limited, even less graphics as well as diagrams a lot of white space. With graphical weather charts of several cities, but without even a climatic map showing the locations of these cities on a world map becomes strange, where are these locations, and different climates (Koppen) not a map of world climates. No satellite photos like before, from all the continents they are missing. 544 pages in the previous issues since 2000, 528 pages in this one. Good to excellent section of maps, as usual. Unfortunately they had to cut somewhere to keep costs down. No, it's not modern white design, as some say, it's a way of not raising the costs, for consumer and publisher some usually detailed maps are now a page when it used to be two, population charts. (Sorry, for my English).. Of course I would recommend for the price and the the main part: world maps, excellent.Except the almost white and black lets save ink introduction, far below what you would expect. Even less expensive editions are far and a lot better in this department. You cant't have it all/win them all.I would recommend the 14th edition or even 13th (with the Greenland map mystake), without any hesitation. Maybe that is the reason they are bit more expensive.

Sehr gutes Atlaswerk

THE ROLLS ROYCE OF ATLASES!!!.
I've been familiar with most if not all the major ATLASES inclusive of THE TIMES COMPREHENSIVE ATLAS OF THE WORLD since the 12th edition and came to one conclusion: this is simply the very best ATLAS on the market!!. The one yet to be beaten..The ROLLS ROYCE of ATLASES!!!. If on a tight budget and can afford a single Atlas, this is it, this is the one to get!!!. Especially this edition!!.The book itself is heavy, tipping the scales at over 12 pounds, thick, redesigned, updated and well made with proper binding and pages which shows up the superb maps..the best I've ever seen. A remarkable world theme section enlightening the dynamics of the very planet itself and the human footprint..this ultimate ATLAS is like a slab of knowledge in your hands. To all who is fascinated and enjoys the cartographic experience, this amazing Atlas is very highly recommended.. it will certainly grace your eyes, your mind and your home alike. I know you'll agree when you get your copy..

Disappointment!!!
I am a collector of Atlases. I have always favoured the Times Comprehensive Atlas of the World as one of the very best full size world atlases. I have the first edition 1967 version, 1988 7th Edition, 2005 11th Edition and now the newly released 2018 15th Edition. What a disappointment. Don't buy it. This is the worst of the series. It is sad to see what has become of it. There are many ways to compare and assess atlases. One key aspect for me is gutter loss. That is when the binding is so tight or bound in a way that part of the map is lost in the center where the two pages are bound. Big atlases like the Times have map plates that go over two pages. When the atlas is open half the map is on each side, so gutter loss is important because part of these expensive plates are not even visible. This edition has the worst gutter loss of any of the ones I have. The First Edition in 1967 was bound in a way that there was no gutter loss. It has been a slow descent since to this most recent catastrophe. Another disappointment is the loss of the Key Map on the inside front cover to help you locate which page the area you are looking for is. It is a faster way visually to find your map and all good atlases have them. For some reason the Times moved it to the back. Odd. The next problem, is atlases are inherently attractive to people who like visual representations. That is their market. Maps are one example but atlases also include a reference section for world issues and the Times has traditionally had an excellent reference section with fabulous visual depictions of various world issues, climate, energy, population, etc. When my 15th Edition arrived I laid it down beside my 2005 11th Edition and went through it page by page to compare. By doing this I discovered that the last edition reduced the number of pages in the reference section by about a quarter by removing many of the excellent visual descriptions so that the pages now are mostly text. When you do a side by side comparison and see what was removed it was greatly disappointing. If you are looking for a fabulous Atlas, buy a second hand 2005 Times Atlas (the world names and boundaries have not changed much at all in that time) and enjoy. There is bad gutter loss with the 2005 as well but at least it is no worse and the reference section is so much better. This last edition also doesn't have a dust cover (they have a hard case but the dust cover is still a useful addition) or a Symbol Key card like my previous editions have.
