Because we use very mild and ecofriendly surfactants and food grade preservatives it has a very low irritation rating, we do not however make the claim “tear free” as some of those products may contain numbing agents to help substantiate the claim. No. I've used this on a newborn and my toddler. And so far no issues. It's great!

Can this also be used for baby shampoo?

I haven’t used it as a Shampoo but I’m sure you could. The ingredients are perfect and safe. My babies smell fresh every time!
