I had a very old electric range that malfunctioned during its cleaning cycle—the locking lever melted, the oven door jammed shut, and a grease fire started inside. Since I couldn’t open the oven, the flames kept growing. Water wasn’t an option for a grease fire, so I grabbed this extinguisher, pulled the pin, and swept it across the cracks around the oven door. The fine powder was able to get inside and put out the fire even though the door wouldn’t open. It truly saved my home from a much worse disaster. The only drawback is cleanup—using it is like spraying fine sand everywhere. But considering it stopped a full-on kitchen fire, the cleanup was absolutely worth it. Just in the nick of time! My mom used up my last fire extinguisher on a tiki torch mishap so it's been over a year since I've had one handy. Decided to buy this since I just got a new fire pit. It arrived December 1st and on December 10th I had a small electrical fire in my kitchen that thankfully I was able to put out with one of these bad boys! I hadn't even taken it out of the Amazon box yet which I did extremely quickly when I smelled smoke and saw Sparks coming from behind my kitchen counter... It was easy to work even in my state of panic... And it put out the flames. My kitchen was covered in fire extinguisher dust but that's not a real complaint because at least I still have a kitchen! What else can I say.... Also glad I bought the 2 pack since the first one is all used up. Will certainly purchase again but hopefully won't have a need for it.
