Eden Brothers Southwest Wildflower Mixed Seeds for Planting, 1/4 lb

We live in Adkins, Texas, where the ground is sandy and nutrient-poor. With a LOT of hope and a prayer I literally threw handfuls of these seeds on the ground (the way Mother Nature does naturally with the wind) in November 2018, no prepping the sand/dirt, no fertilizer, didn't even water them in (however, we did have some rain during that month). Anyway, I now have flowers blooming big and bright all over the place and I know they are from the seed mix because they are not native to this area. The poppies are big and stunning in color and the cornflowers are bright blue. I don't even know the names of the others but they are vibrant and strong. The seed mix seems to have the right combination of seeds that bloom in sequence if that makes sense. First we saw a show of two kinds of flowers, a weeks later another kind started blooming, and then 10 days later another kind joins the ones from the beginning. I have been so disappointed in the past with wildflower seed mixes that CLAIM to have a combination of the more "showy and expensive" flower seeds only to find out that all the seeds look the same and turn out to be pink evening primroses and nothing else. I don't know if these seeds were blessed or what but they do germinate and bloom and are lovely! Again, we threw them out in November and we live in Southeast Texas. I think a lot has to do with the timing and conditions when they are introduced to the ground.

Seems like every seed in the package I received was ready to sprout. I planted some in a bed, and some in a pot, and so far it all grows very well. Today I noticed my first wildflowers, and I am excited for the rest of it to start flowering. Update: many of the flowers have started blooming now. As nice as they are, I think the timing of the blooming flowers would have been better had I planted the seeds earlier in January or maybe even December, for all the rains. It does not freeze in my area in winter. I think it is helpful to know the weather patterns of your area to know when is best to sow seeds

Never grew a single sprout after so much work to plant and water

I planted most of the seeds in full sun a couple months ago. The seeds closest to shade are growing a lot, those with a little shade so-so and the ones I planted in the full sun never sprouted. They were all planted from the same batch at the same time and have been watered by yours truly daily. You'll see from the photo that the further away from the sun they are the shorter they become until there are none in the full sub.

Funny thing is I accidentally bought the south western wildflower seeds instead of south eastern. I live in western nc. But I figured id plant them anyways. I spread them over a wide area where I had 2 60 ft tall cedar trees cut down last winter. I spread the seeds in March. They are very pretty; ive seen mostly birds eye and different pink and white shades of Clarkia. There are a decent number of lupine as well. Cosmos, lots of African daisy (yellow and orange), blue, purple and pink bachelor buttons/cornflowers, California poppy. I have an eastern cottontail rabbit that just dug out a den in the middle of the field to have her babies, so its not just the bees and other insects that have benefitted from the wildflower field.

I had a section in my garden where I couldn’t get any plants to take, making it a weedy nightmare. I planted these this spring after cleaning the area again and let me tell you the plant gods have answered my prayers. I have gotten round after round of the prettiest flowers for months now. Literally could not be happier with both the quality and quantity produced by this product!

Great product, generous amount of seeds easy instructions, for a calming enjoyable time out in the sun.

Live in zone 9 (Chandler, Az). The flowers are beautiful and so easy to grow. The heat hasn't kicked in quit yet (early May). Hopefully they'll make it though the summer.
