Initially, there was a delay in delivery. Eventually had to pick it up myself. To my horror the packaging was in shambles. Some small parts were missing. However, thanks to Dewalt for making such a sturdy machine. Tried the machine for a couple of hours and had no issues.

I didn't know what I was missing before I bought a 12" miter saw. The Dewalt 780 is well made and very accurate but also quick to change from cut to cut. My saw needed some tweaking on the pre-set stops but that was an easy thing to do. After that it was ready to go. The fit and finish of everything was good. The slides are a little rough at first but seem to wear in over a little bit of time. That was a concern at first and other reviews mention it as well but it doesn't seem to be a problem now. The sawdust bag works okay but has very limited capacity. The shadow light also works very well. Mine is slightly off (maybe .005) but after using it for a while it's easy to compensate. It's a great feature. I haven't looked at the manual to see it that's adjustable but it's only off by something like the width of a sharp pencil line and once you've adjusted yourself to that you can split a pencil line. The motor torque is surprisingly strong at start up. A soft start would have been better but, again, it's a very minor issue on a great saw. Purists and professionals may not love this as much as me but it's fast, easy and accurate for my needs. My radial arm saw hasn't even been turned on since I got this 780. I also bought the Dewalt stand. It works great too. The work support adjustments require some tweaking to get perfect when there's a need to change them but it's easy enough. If you have a jamb level it's REALLY easy. The extension arms work well on long material and stay pretty level even when extended way out. I've added this mini review because it's such a good companion piece with the saw. If this was lost or stolen I'd order a new one immediately. It's just incredibly fast to work with; it's easy to change the setups and the cuts are very nice. I did buy a better blade for trim work but the stock blade works fine for less delicate pieces.

Purchased this saw to replace my original 10" miter saw which I have had for a few years. My previous saw did not provide me precise miter corners even though I had checked and adjusted the guides and angles a number of times. Thought it might be a user problem but when this saw was available at a reduced price compared to local retail I decided to make a change. It is remarkable how precise it cuts without making any adjustments. I checked the blade and fence angles when received and found them precise and angles accurate. Kinda wish I had made the move earlier but when starting out it is hard to purchase top end on everything, however this was a great purchase which should give me accurate cuts and last a lifetime for the handy man work it does. Delivery was less then a week and quicker then the estimated delivery date. It operates better on a 20 amp circuit. Found it was occasionally tripping the breaker on a 15 amp circuit when starting.
