Moto tag (1-Pack)

Great item. Easy to use and works well. I.use on my bicycle.

I tried to put this on my wife's phone android. but she doesn't lock her phone (nothing on it) so I couldn't use the tracker and I couldn't use it on mine for I have a iPhone which won't work with it.I bought it for hers. Oh well

Pros: Same circumference as an airtag so you can use the same accessories Cons: *You wouldn't be able to find the device if it was lost in your own house - doesn't always connect. The volume on the chirper is so quiet that you need to be right on top of it to hear it. If it was under anything you wouldn't be able to hear it. *Battery life is atrocious, within 2 weeks of having it i had a low battery notification on the device - even after two firmware updates from Motorola specifically addressing battery life issues there was no improvement - however the battery status went to normal after the last firmware update but then a week later i got a notice that the battery life was very low. *UWB not implemented in google or Moto's app - so no real benefits over other tags except for the form factor. *Would take forever to connect if nearby, i.e. if you wanted to find something it was attached to (and knew the general location) it would take more time to activate the noise than probably tossing your house to find it. *Google Find My network basically doesn't work - not in the US or abroad where Android devices are more prevalent

This is the best Google Find Hub compatible tracker I have used so far. I have a bunch of the Chipolo trackers and one of the Peblebee trackers. Both of those trackers work okay, but they are lacking the UWB feature that Google finally enabled recently. I am here to report that I have gotten that UWB update, and it is working great. Exactly as you would expect from an AirTag and an iPhone. I bought the Moto Tag to put on my Ridge wallet. I was able to do that because Moto has made the Tag compatible with all AirTag accessories. I find this a nice trade-off versus the Chipolo trackers that have a built-in hole for attaching to your keyring, and are much larger than the Moto Tag. Finally, the Moto Tag gives you a notification on your phone when the battery is low. Unlike the Chipolo trackers that don't send a notification, rather, they continuously beep at you until you replace the battery. This is super annoying since it often happens in the middle of the night when you are trying to sleep. I can't see myself buying any other Google Find Hub trackers going into the future. None of them can compare to the quality and features of the Moto Tag. I have even considered replacing all of my other trackers with the Moto Tag.

Tracker does everything your expect it to. Sadly it's lacking the UWB function for tracking directions and distance that apple airtags display on ios. Instead it directs you to a general area and a closer/further function by filling up a little blob logo until you're on top of it with the means to make it play a sound to locate it. You can use the generic Google tracker app "find my device" for basic functions and add it to other Google find my devices, however the firmware update is only available from the moto tag app. UWB (ultra wide band) is currently disabled by Google and Motorola with claims it will be added in a future update. This claim has been made since they released them but still no changes yet. The camera shutter function only applies to the use of certain Motorola phones It's just like a airtag in terms of size and shape with the means to use it with other Apple Air tag accessories, so this allows use with countless apple cases made for air tags. This tracker is great, but is being held back by Motorola and Google by not having UWB as a working function.

Best tracker for android that I have used. Mine was easy to setup out of the box. If you receive a device with older firmware, you will have to update it for UWB to be enabled. I did not experience this but did have to enable UWB on my Pixel 10 Pro, which was just a simple switch under connections in settings.

* 7 month update * I bought 2 of these in Nov 2024. A few days ago (June 2025), 1 of the 2 is already showing a low battery warning. They are both being used in the same capacity/settings and move together when they ever move. **** I liked the description of how this Moto Tag is supposed to work, but it just doesn't do the job well enough to make any sense. I think it works only for finding an inanimate object that it might be connected to and it's somewhere in your home or familiar normal area. If it's lost somewhere on your route, I highly doubt it would be trackable because the location does not update fast enough. You would have to retrace your path at a very slow pace, refreshing your map location constantly and maybe you will eventually see it in a general area. Other than that, the tag would have to be in a very high traffic area with people that have their phone set up for using Android Find My Device network who aren't just passing by and actually lingering around the tag long enough for it to update the location. I understand this is due to the way Google set the security and privacy to require more than one device about 15 minutes near the tag before it updates. Therefore, if the tag is moving, it seems unlikely to be able to catch up to it. Those are issues that I was aware I would probably experience from reviewing other people's reviews of how this works. I still thought I would try it out for my own experience in my environment. I have set them up and tested it for several days. I actually placed them on my dogs' collars (2 tags and 2 dogs). The location doesn't even update when I am walking with the dogs and carrying my phone that is setup with both tags. I have to stay in one place and refresh the Find My app's device location before it will show a new location. This reinforces the point others make about these tags not being useful for locating something like a lost pet. The only situation it would probably work is if the pet with the tag is being held by someone in an area with several phones using this Find My network and staying in the same spot for a while. Same if you were trying to track a tag that's hidden in your car, bike or bag. My last issue with this network or the Moto Tag (I am not sure which is the actual issue) is sharing the access to the Moto Tag. The Moto Tag app doesn't seem to have any setting to share a specific tag so I have found the share option to show in the Find My Device app. I shared it to another Android phone in my household and was immediately concerned about it. When I shared 1 Moto Tag by sending it via a text message to the phone I wanted to share it with, the receiving phone opens the link to download the Find My Device app. I install the app on the device and log in with the primary Google/Android email for that device. It sends verification messages back to my original phone that is sharing the Moto Tag. The big problem is the 2nd device that the Moto Tag was shared to now has control of locating, ringing, locking, resetting my phone! I realize this is meant to be used in case my phone is stolen or lost, but I did not choose to share my phone to the other Android device, I only selected to share a Moto Tag and that ends up sharing everything that might be in my original device's "Find My Device" devices. I tried digging for security settings or share setting levels, but there aren't any. Basically, by sharing 1 Moto Tag, the 2nd Android phone was able to do things like rename my phone (I tried this to distinguish between the generic name of the phone since the 2 phones are the same models and this ended up changing my phone's name too, not just the display of the device on the 2nd phone), it can also change all the settings of the Moto Tag so it doesn't only have access to the location, of course the main concern is that 2nd phone ends up with the capabilities to totally wipe my phone out! This seems useless because you aren't able to share the tracking of 1 Moto Tag to someone else without keeping everything else private or secure. In conclusion, I think this is barely useful to track anything other than something lost with it attached to it and in your own home as long as you can hear the beeping sound. I'm not one that attaches these tags to keys or wallets or anything of that sort because I don't misplace them around my home anyway. I wish these functioned well enough for real life and had better security sharing controls.

I was iffy with purchasing after reading several reviews, but now that I have had some time to test it and see how it works I'm glad I purchased the Moto tag. Quite a few reviews I think the issue they are having is by not setting their phone up properly with the proper settings for FMD options in security and privacy with device finders. I live in San Antonio TX so fairly high population, this worked great for seeing where my luggage was when flying to Seattle Seattle Washington State on recent trip. It was updating on a semi regular basis, yes where a few times it would be an hour or more in lower traffic or not many people nearby with the fmd setting turned on. I would buy this tag again without question if I needed a second one for tracking luggage. It would work great for keys or wallet or purse as well. But again I'm mostly using for an extra piece of security in keeping an eye on my luggage when traveling and it's done a great job at being accurate within about 10-20 feet when showing its location.
