S**!
Necessary for the hardcore Batman fan.
For the most part you can’t go wrong with purchasing an Absolute edition. The quality of the book is second to none. The colors and the art really pop on the oversized pages. The quality of the paper is also excellent and the book comes in a sleek, gorgeous hard case. Absolute editions are usually of the highest quality. If you’re curious about the story; this is one of Scott Snyder’s best. It follows Dick Grayson as Batman. The way the story unfolds and the art by Jock are fantastic! I’ll leave it at that. For the serious collector and Batman fan this is a great purchase. If you’re just curious about the story or hesitant about spending this kind of money on a comic book then you may be better off purchasing the trade paperback for a fraction of the price. That way you’ll know if this is worth your time and money. As a lifelong comic book and Batman fan/collector I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I can’t envision many people being unsatisfied with this magnificent book.

Got some points for this one
If your man also has a tattoo of the bat symbol, you've found the perfect gift. I got it for my nerd for Christmas and he loved it! It's a really beautiful collectors item. I shipped it to my office and when I opened it, my coworkers and I were really impressed. The book is large, well made, and visually appealing.

Well Done
One of the best modern Batman stories out there. Snyder, Jock, and Francavilla just dominate with this. Snyder’s writing is superb and Jock and Francavill’s art fit the mood perfectly.

Debatably Snyder's Best Batman Story
Scott Snyder is a household name by comic standards. Naysayers say he's overrated, but even they can't deny that his Batman run is legendary. It brought thousands of new readers to DC and was one of the best titles during the New 52 era, a controversial era at best. But not a lot of readers count this short run as part of that run. For me, this Detective Comics run with Scott Snyder is better than most of his Batman run. It has everything that you can want in a Batman story, and the best part is that the Batman in this story isn't even Bruce Wayne. It's Dick Grayson, so it's a whole different dynamic, but it manages to stay true to the key fundamentals of Batman stories. It's an amazing detective story, challenging Batman's crime solving skills. It provides a physical test for Batman. It also challenges Batman's will and resolve. These are the fundamentals that make a good Batman story, and it soars high in all of them. The art is also amazing (I won't say it's better than Greg Capullo because that man is arguably the best Batman artist of all time) with Jock on the first story and Francesco Francavilla on the second half. Jock's art is so dynamic and beautifully creepy, setting the dark tone for the first story. Francavilla brings that noir feeling to the second part of the book that also changes the tone perfectly. This is a necessity for Batman fans and is one of the best Absolute editions in my opinion.
