Siva Sutras: The Yoga Of Supreme Identity - Text Of The Sutras And The Commentary Vimarsini Of Ksemaraja

The book is enriched with knowledge about Kashmir Shaivism. The only issue I found with the book is rhe printing. it coupd have been better. It is difficult to read important parts of the text and maximum places words are not dully printed, mis prints are at a lot of places.

This text went on to create the great advaitic philosophical traditions of the Spanda and the Trika . Original and profound. Shri Jaideva Thakur presents this distinctive Yantra tradition in a lucid way.

Ordered for a hard cover. The inside quality print and paper can be better. Translation is beautifully done . 👍

In case you plan to read Shiva Sutras, this would be a definite recommendation as this book contains a detailed English translation of the Sutras. As Sutras are almost codified small sentences in Sanskrit it is pretty hard to understand them if you don't have a good explanation along with them.

Masterpiece by Jaideva Singh. Apart from all positives mentioned elsewhere, one of the most appreciable characteristics of the text is its emphasis helping the reader build a strong foundation of the subject. Once read with attention, one can easily commit many parts of the text to memory. An outstandingly comprehensive start to Shaiva Tantra.

Transcendental!

I am no one to speak about the content of this book. But one thing I found was that the print quality is bad. Especially sanskrit verses are hard to read.

I hope our American friend won't mind me quoting a few words from his review; "A word of warning for all newcomers to the Shaivite world:- You should not expect to be able to assimilate even the minutest fraction of this sacred text if you have scant karmic affinity with, and/or prema for Divine Lord Shiva. And, to get the most out of this book, you should also have some familiarity with kundalini yoga terminology and the Saivagama teachings. Otherwise, you will be floundering in wave after wave of obscure terminologies and concepts" A few years ago - because I liked the letter shapes - I started to learn Sanskrit but gave it up thinkng I would never need it. I wish now I'd persevered! In addition to the above warning I would like to add that without knowledge of, or at least a liking for Sanskrit, you will find this book very heavy going indeed. That being said, if you are ready for these teachings nothing will prevent you buying this sublime text.
