Description says 36 balls, but the option is a bag of 12?

It's 12 balls. The 36 you are seeing just means the balls are meant for a 36 foot court.

No it is not solid foam. It is exactly like a regular tennis ball except it is bigger. It is also slower when it bounces. I guess it is larger and slower so beginning tennis players have a better chance of hitting the ball. ( I am only speculating as to that as I bought the balls for my dogs and not to play tennis).
