I’d used an Andis clipper for my “Kids” furever, and they enjoyed getting brushed. My newest rescued “Kid” has a difficult time warming up to me, and the thought of the buzzing clippers was freaking him out. Thought I’d try a difference approach, wondering how effective this dematting comb would be. While he’s getting much better at tolerating this brush, I’m amazed at how well the one side works to get the shedding out, but then being able to use the other side to untangle the rest of his fur. One of these days I hope to be able to brush his tail, which is still a very difficult task. He looks so much better, having been brushed even for a brief period. This furminator works very well and I highly recommend it for making your beautiful Kid a really stunning one. Just be ready for the hunks of fur it’ll remove!

Works well on my 18 yo cat. She doesn’t groom herself anymore so was getting mats and clumps of hair that I would work out by loosening them up by trying to softly pull them apart, but often that would annoy her. This works them out gently and gets that loose undercoating out that causes the matting.

The two-sided professional grooming rake is easy to use, and it does a great job of removing tangles and mats. I've used this comb on my cat, and it works wonders on her long hair. The comb is gentle enough to avoid causing her any discomfort, but it's still effective at removing tangles and mats. The two different sides of the comb are also great for different types of fur. However, I did have some issues when I tried to use this comb on my golden doodle. Unfortunately, it didn't work as well on his thick, curly fur. The comb seemed to get stuck in his fur and didn't do a great job of removing the mats. Overall, I would still recommend the GoPets Dematting Comb for cats and dogs with shorter or thinner fur. It's a high-quality tool that is well-made and easy to use. However, if you have a dog with thick or curly fur, you may want to consider a different tool that is specifically designed for that type of fur. I'm giving it 4 stars because while it didn't work well for my golden doodle, it's still a great tool for other pets.

Wonderful tool to groom with.

Works very well and highly recommend. Be prepared for a bunch of hair to come off your furry friend. They’ll look better and feel better and help to lessen shedding around your living space.

We have five kitties and only one is long haired but he gets knots something awful. So we looked for a mat cutting comb and this one seemed to be a good option. First, it is large. That's not necessarily a bad thing because, unless you have small hands, it's very easy to hold. The grip is made of a mushy gel inside covered by a translucent outside for a somewhat custom feel when you grip it. Your individual fingers will each tend to kind of form their own space on the handle each time you grip it. Once you let go, the grip returns to its original dimensions. Now I don't want to give you the impression that your fingers/hand will totally sink into the handle because thats not what happens. It just somewhat forms to your hand and returns to original shape each time. The only issue I have and the reason for not giving it more stars is that it doesn't actually cut the fur. You have two sides to the comb to choose from depending on what you're trying to accomplish and how long your kitty's fur is (or how matted kitties fur is). One side has the teeth further apart and seems to work better on longer fur and dense mats. The other side has the teeth noticeably closer together and seems to work better on shorter fur and/or on less dense mats. I also use it on mats that have been mostly worked out using the side with the teeth further apart but still need some combing to get fully out. Looking at the side if the teeth, it would appear that they tried to somewhat sharpen the inner curve to give them a cutting action but I've run my fingers inside of the curve ( I don't suggest you do this) and haven't felt any sharpness to speak of. Plus the mats that I've combed with either side don't come off like they've been cut, they get worked out through many strokes of the comb. I would prefer that the mats actually be cut because our kitty only sits still for.so.long as you gently try to pull the comb through his mats. I use short strokes with an upward motion starting at about 2 inches from the mat and work it out from the edge of the mat towards the inner/more dense portion. Since it combs through the mat instead of just cutting it, kitty only tolerates it for a little while. If you don't need to constantly cut mats off of a long/dense furred kitty, this is a very well built, sturdy, comfortable, large comb that will last you nine lives. (See what I did there?) If you are looking to cut mats off of your kitty and not comb them out, you may want to look elsewhere.

I ordered this product after conducting hours of research on grooming my two fur babies, Astro (a 6 1/2-month-old Cavalier King Charles spaniel) and Bailey (an 8 1/2-month-old Golden Cockapoo, also known as a Cockapoodledoo). These are both supposed to be low-shedding to no-shedding dogs. I got several quotes from groomers when we first got them, and the price was upwards of $200 per dog! Two weeks after getting them, I broke my right. ankle, followed by my left ankle, 3 weeks later. God was trying to tell me that I can do this grooming thing on my own if I just find the right tools. I looked at what professional groomers, breeders of my type of puppies, trainers, and reviews from all over the internet said about products they bought and tried out at home, and I got busy ordering my grooming 101 kit that I could do from home with limited help (2 broken and repaired with surgery ankles with one still non weight bearing) to keep my sweet pups looking super cute. I don't want anyone to think that I went to the Grooming House of Horrors @ my house after I am done. How embarrassing would that be to have to have my son or my hubby walk Astro and Bailey around the neighborhood looking like they were butchered!!! The Go Pets Deshedding & Dematting Comb/Brush to get out the undercoat works like magic! It gets so much of that undercoat out that you didn't realize was growing under the radar. No wonder these guys sometimes itch. They are trying to get rid of that extra "coat" that they are wearing in the 90-degree heat with 100% humidity in Charleston, SC Bailey loves it and wants me to brush her with the Go Pet, which I willingly did for about 45 minutes yesterday when it arrived at my doorstep. Astro was a little hesitant, as normal, of the Go Pet Deshedding tool, but he eventually let me use it on him with no problems. I got tons of fine hair all over their bodies, which would normally become matted over time. I was able to get all over their bodies in all the nooks and crannies, even on Bailey's face, without it hurting them. I can't imagine how much hair you could get from a breed that does shed. The only "con" I could possibly come up with is that there are no clear directions for specific use. You just have to try it out and see what works. You do want to hold your dog's coat above where you are brushing, just so it glides a little easier through the fur.

This de-shedding tool is amazing. I can't believe we went this many years grooming our cats without this. A word of advice: This tool is designed for cats with long, thick hair and will not work so well on cats with short and medium hair. The best approach for removing matted hair is to start with the eleven toothed side until the tool moves freely through the hair. Progress to the twenty three toothed side afterward. If there are still areas of matted hair remaining, remove them with a super fine toothed de-shedding tool like a furmanator. Thanks to this tool, our yard now looks like a herd of Yaks have been living there, and our coffees now have considerably less hair.

Great pet brush!

Two large dogs, and surrounded by Moorland, and rough farmland. Ours dogs inevitably come back from their walks with bits of bramble, mud and debris in their coats. Can be a nightmare as the Setter hates being brushed. Our Lab has a thick double coat and thankfully enjoys being brushed and pampered. After a number of years dealing with matted and knotted coats (despite our best efforts) this dematting rake is a revelation. Gentle and so easy to use on both dogs. Even the Setter is very happy that we have purchased this high quality rake, and is looking so very smart now. This is a brilliant tool, and works a treat. Matted hair, and knots are no longer a problem. I have also purchased another rake for our daughters Beardie Collie who lives on a farm. It is just fantastic for keeping her in tip top condition. I highly recommend this rake to everyone, no matter what breed of hairy chum you have. You will not regret your purchase.
