how much water does it take?.....Can you add ice?....what happens if you fall asleep and it runs out of water,will the pump be damaged?

The unit takes about 4 gallons of water. Yes, I have added ice to the water chamber. There is not an automatic shutoff so I am quite sure you would burn up the pump if you let it run dry. Also, you need to run the unit on fan only for at least 1/2 hour after usage to dry the membrane. Others have complained of their water smelling, but I’m sure it was the membrane from not being properly dried after use. I have mine plugged into a timer so that when I’m finished with it and turn it to fan only, it shuts off automatically after 1/2 hour.

How do you install the casters? Past the tip there’s is a ring that prevents me from inserting them completely. What am I missing?

Place the wheels with the "brake" in the front of the unit. Tap with cloth-covered hammer or rubber mallet to set them into place. Hope that helps!

How to open water door? The tab to pull on is too narrow to grasp.

You don't grasp the tab you push down on it with your thumb. The door will rotate out.

How long will it run before the water runs out?

It depends a bit on the humidity, the lower the humidity in the air you are pulling in the faster water can evaporate. On hot dry 20ish % humidity days with the fan on high I get about 4 hours before the water level reaches the bottom of the water level window (but after this point it has maybe a gallon left in it, I assume to protect the pump from running dry). With the fan on the low setting it will run overnight (7-8 hours) without running out of water.
