Excellent DIY replacement
Exact OEM replacement at a non OEM price. Very easy do it yourself replacement. It took longer to get all of the water out of the tank using a sponge than it did replacing the old fill valve. Easy to follow instructions aimed toward someone that’s never changed one of these, and they improved the overflow tube by adding a clip and an adjustment wheel to affect the fill level in the bowl.

Quality Fluidmaster product NOT American Standard but fits and works well
NOT AMERICAN STANDARD! it fits an american standard but also likely almost any other toilet. This one is Fluidmaster 400, which I have used previously and you can get anywhere. The old one that needed replacing was 6 years old. It gets four stars because I thought it was going to be OEM and it wasn't. This design also has a thumb compression roller for water to the bowl which i don't like as much as the previous fluidmaster i had. The old version had a dial. Neither fill the bowl up as much as I'd like on the max setting so if you are using the toilet like most that is going to be open all the way on an elongated bowl, and probably on a standard toilet also. Inexpensive enough. very quiet compared to the old one. water flow was interesting as it comes out the bottom sides of the post. Easy to install. I recommend you use the old one as a guide for your height adjustment - just line them up side-by-side, raise the collar and align the height, then slide the collar down to lock it in place. Overall, for the money and reliability of years of use, it is easily done, you wont need a plumber. Make sure you have a pan under the outlet during the sway and towel out the bowl of all water and you'll be happy.

No, it is NOT the American Standard brand. It is fluidmaster. But I knew to expect that from the reviews. They do need to fix that. it fits my American Standard toilet and was easy to install and was cheap.

The product itself was perfect; SHIPPING was the problem. I ordered three valves; two were shipped in the factory box inside another box, PERFECT. One was shipped in the factory box inside an Amazon bag. The box was smashed and torn open, with REFILL CLIP or ANGLE ADAPTER MISSING.

It’s not an OEM part
It’s a Fluidmaster part not actual American Standard. I was trying to buy an OEM part. Maybe they use these in their toilets now. I could have bought this at Lowe’s.

This works but it's actually an overpriced Fluidmaster!
This product does 100% work on my old, 1980's American Standard toilet (in fawn beige); however, when I opened the box it literally said Fluidmaster! LOL As other have written in the comments, save your money and buy a Fluidmaster instead! It is possible American Standard paid for some extra quality, but I doubt it. I honestly think it's just American Standard literally reselling the same product twice over - one time from Fluid Master and the 2nd time to you and as a result, you're paying for 2 mark-ups.
