Is this removable? I live in an apartment so I want to make sure it doesn't take of the door paint with it.

The Door Seal Kit is removable. However, it is attached to the door using adhesive, so removing paint when you take it off is a possibility.

How large of a gap underneath the door will this be able to cover?

The door sweep is 1.5" wide. We recommend adhering at least .5" of the sweep to the door, which will result in 1" of the gap being covered.

Does this damage the door upon removal?

This has a strong adhesive, so I would imagine that it could damage laminate or paint. It did not damage any of my wooden doors. The adhesive does stick to the door, but I rub it off. I have some adhesive remover but I haven't used it yet.

How is this different than weather stripping you can get at a hardware store?

The product is similar to weather stripping available at most hardware stores. The door seal kit is designed to block air flow through gaps in doors. Because sound can travel anywhere that air can travel, the Door Seal Kit can help to limit the sound travelling through a door.
