Sets the standard for recipe books
I bought this book over 2 years ago and never actually opened it until now. What an amazing compilation of detailed and accurate recipes accompanied by unique story telling. As an owner of innumerable books this really sets the standard for what a cook book should be - super clear instructions, imaginative and authentic photos for EVERY dish, metric and imperial measurements, calorific and nutritional content of each meal, and just so robustly put together good quality hardback. I'm going to check who the publisher is so I can buy more! I then checked the author was a MasterChef finalist and it becomes clear her passion and mastery exudes from every page. Blown away!

Surprising quick and easy, even for inexperienced cooks
This is one of those books you could just sit there and look at for hours. The recipes are fun and easy to make, and very forgiving. I usually tweak them to use whatever I have to hand in the kitchen. The only problem is whenever I cook a curry now, it always has to include everything, the meat curry, the vegetable curry, dhal, salad and rice. But this book covers all these. Cooking a curry at home must be so much healthier, and the nutritional information close to the back of the book is very helpful if you are watching your intake. I have also bought a copy for my nephew for university. This book, together with a microwavable rice cooker, a large bag of rice and one of lentils and a spice selection from the Indian cash and carry, will mean he will need to buy very little else to have a tasty and filling meal.

Easy to follow and delicious recipes
This is beautifully presented and written, with lots of tempting recipes. The photos and descriptions really made me want to visit Bangladesh - now added to my bucket list! I found the recipe for lamb with aromatic spices really easy to follow and it was absolutely delicious. This is now my go to curry recipe book!

Well-explained recipes, beautiful photos
This book is a double-whammy. It’s a great recipe book, with recipes that are well-explained, plus it includes information about Bangladesh and its culture with beautiful photos. The ingredients are clearly and comprehensively listed and explained. The measurements are given in British/European and American measures, always useful. The recipes look long but, like Delia Smith, they actually aren’t long and complicated, they are simply well-explained and full of hints and tips. In fact, if you like Delia Smith’s style of explanation in recipes, you will like Saira’s too. I definitely recommend this book, for yourself or a beautiful gift.

Simply excellent
I own many cook books, but this one has been a revelation. I have cooked more recipes from it than any other individual cook book I own, with the possible exception of Delia Smith's Complete Cookery which I have had for over 30 years. Follow the steps in this one and you will be rewarded with some of the tastiest curries you will ever have had the fortune to consume. This is not a book for a quick 5-minute solution, but the time taken to brown the onions and do all the finishing touches that Saira describes is well worth the wait.

Bit disappointed.
The recipes seem very complex and whilst very authentic hard for a one person ordinary kitchen to rustle up.

Great Bengali Cookbook!
This book is great! So many amazing recipes beautofully written by a Bengali women who is a well known chef! I love how there are images for almost every recipe, and the recipes are easy to follow. There is also a large section in the front introducing important things to note when cooking Bengali food. So happy with this cookbook!!

Amazing Book a must have!!
The best Bengali book I would’ve recommended my mom— who is a Bengali! The recipes are so easy to follow and the attention to details are amazing. It’s really more than a recipe book, it’s like you are cooking with the chef. I already bought couple copies and definitely recommend it to anyone who would want to taste the “alternate” Indian food but real Bangladeshi food.

Grateful, missing some recipes
I appreciate that this books exists because it's so hard to find a book Bangladeshi recipe book in English. That said, some of the recipes just didn't hit home. It was also missing bortha recipes. Overall, I appreciated the book.
