Yes it is. It is very sturdy, my grandchildren have the knex in out of the box very often and they are not real careful when the put stuff away.

Which is better k'nex 52 model or 70 model, they are priced same currently?

In my opinion the 70 model is better. You have more pieces and possibilities for building if you like to just build your own creations. I bought my grandson both sets.
