loved it almost completely!
There was one chapter I had trouble understanding and don’t even think I was capable of understanding but could have & would have skipped it if I would have had a choice knowing how I would feel about it! Hah! But other than that one very hard chapter, I absolutely loved this book and every other page in it! When I would need to put it down to do other things required in my life, I couldn’t hardly wait to get back to it!! It was so interesting every minute! I truly couldn’t stand not talking about what I was reading or for anyone I knew to be reading it with me also! So I talked my husband into letting me read it to him and I didn’t even mind starting over knowing there’d surely be some that I didn’t pick up on the first time I read it!! He enjoyed it as much as me and we found ourselves helping eachother remember who the main character was as we read!! I loved how Jodi changed each chapter to a different person to help explain all that was taking place!! I loved how it ended too but as always was sad that it was over and know I won’t stop thinking about it and all the topics and parts that had me thinking so deeply to different ideas & thoughts! There just is no right or wrong way to do many things & the quote of “walking in another man’s shoes” comes to mind as I think about the ways we all determine what is right from wrong about a lot of things!! No more can I judge one person from myself or from another! The only pure and right thing I know is that Jesus is the Way, the Truth & the Life and no man comes to the Father but by Him! So much more before & after that but that is for sure and nothing is more important than that! Everything else comes 2nd and can be understood because of that!

Good book
I really liked this book. It makes you think and examine how you feel about the death penalty. It also has a nice twist at the end. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Jodi Picoult.

A Guilty Donor
Shay was on trial for 2 murders. He was found guilty & sentenced to death. Father Michael is his faith advisor; & Maggie Bloom, an attorney with ACLU, is helping him to be able to be hung to die instead of a lethal injection. Shay murdered Kurt & his stepdaughter. Shay wants to be hung to die as it would allow him to donate his heart to Claire, sister to Elizabeth, who Shay murdered. The book takes the reader; & grabs the attention of the reader. I read late into the night & sometimes during the night to find out how the story ends. This book is a good replica of a prison & inmates. Please read this book! You will not be disappointed!

Storyline kept my interest
I valued the distinctive range of characters throughout her writing. Despite their individual qualities, they establish meaningful connections. This book encourages reflection on personal worth.

Tough book to read
To be clear, this book is written flawlessly with believable characters and consistently excellent storytelling. What makes it hard to read is that it makes you examine some really hard truths about humanity, right and wrong, good and bad, and about the existence of God. The strengths and weaknesses of our judicial system and the death penalty are also on full display and demand examination. This author does the hard work of all the research for us and then presents the case in a way that forces us to look inside ourselves to honestly examine our own ideas and prejudices. That makes it a tough, but very important, read.

Heartfelt
A crime, a love story, salvation, search for faith, love all woven together into an intriguing story. There are challenges regarding what we believe and how what is right cannot be ascertained just because it’s religious or civil law.

it makes you think
Whether you are a believer or not it makes you think. I hear my father’s voice saying to me,”When God comes down and whispers the truth in your ear, you will be able to criticize what someone else believes.” As you read, you will understand what he said. I think the author also wants you to have to think about capital punishment. Also to think about those left by the victim and also the executed.

I could not suspend my disbelief in the story.
I finally gave up on reading the book when it started to move into fantasy. I lost interest in the story and the characters and the story.

Excellent story
I loved the legal and medical facts and information, somehow believably entangled with the unknown regarding religion and faith. A genuine and heart rending story that holds you to the end.

Wonderful must read...
Jodi Picoult never stops amazing with her incredible writing and incredible twists. She brings diverse characters together in the most unlikely of circumstances and ensures the reader relates to them and gets utterly sucked in. She provides a unique perspective on the human condition producing page turners while exploring massive societal and psychological issues that leaves you thinking for days. I am challenged when writing this review as if I tell too little and I'm not sure it will do the book justice...& yet if I tell too much and I risk spoiling it for the next reader. However what I will divulge is In ‘Change of Heart’ Picoult addresses the issues of capital punishment; the realities of someone dying because of heart failure; the cruelty of chance. This is a powerful story of love, loss, religion...a tale that proves that things are not always as they appear. And That the human condition is far from predictable and even the most despicable of criminals may redeem and the truth is never black or white or easy... just like life. A wonderful, must-read.

One surprise after another.
I am a big fan of Jodi Picoult’s work and this novel did not disappoint. It deals with some really challenging subject matter however and is not for the faint-hearted! As usual the author makes the characters so real that they lift off the pages and straight into your heart (pun intended). So thought-provoking, this might just be her most compelling story yet, although I think that every time!
