Tefal HB643140 Optichef Quartzite Hand Blender, White, 800 W

This arrived today and I’ve tried just the stick blender once so far, to blend bananas, kefir, and blueberries, and OH MY GOODNESS. What a revelation. I bought this to replace a Bosch stock blender (not cheap). I bought the Bosch to replace a plastic generic stick blender (quite cheap). The plastic one was disgusting and unhygienic. Due to the way the plastic parts were partially sealed, bits of blended food would get stuck inside the stick and ferment and rot and grow larvae. The Bosch one had a metal shaft and blade which solved the hygiene problem, but stopped working after just 18 months of occasional use (to blend kefir smoothies, which are not exactly heavy duty). So I bought this one on the strength of the review someone left about contacting Tefal the company, and their amazing customer service. After cutting my finger while washing the incredibly sharp blade, and blending one smoothie today, I have realised that the Bosch and previous stick blender were both pathetic. I thought they were blending smoothies but actually the Tefal blends smoothies. The Bosch just kind of mashes and mixes up the ingredients and bit. Not very well, not very evenly, and not very smoothly. It makes me wonder if my Bosch was defective right from the beginning? Recently it became completely ineffective, not even moving any ingredients, but perhaps that was a progression of an already existing problem. Because the smoothie produced by this little blender today took a small fraction of the time that the Bosch took, and it was completely smooth instead of very bitty like previous smoothies made with the same ingredients. So this is what I’ve been missing all my life, without realising!!!!! Haven’t tried the other attachments but if it continues blending smoothies like today’s, then all is well. Absolutely recommend this. Best blender I’ve ever tried! — Update just over 1 year later I recently used this to make a strawberry smoothie and somehow some of the smoothie managed to get between the sealed base and the glass jug. I can’t see how it got in there and there seems no way of getting it out. It’s smelling slightly unpleasant. I phoned Tefal this morning and spoke to a pleasant gentleman who took the details. I emailed photos and proof of purchase to him and he says he will get back to me this afternoon. I will update progress on this later! A good product is still only as good as the customer service and after sales! We shall see how this is handled….!

Having had this product for a few weeks now, I have used all of the accessories and they all perform decently. The whisk is handy enough for egg whites, and the slicer/dicer adaptor has a reasonable size, making it perfect to create a sauce or even to crush ice (manual recommends not more than 4 pieces at a time). Easy enough to clean, most of it being dishwasher safe (the top white bit of the slicer/dicer adapter is not, but both the blades and the cup are).

Used this for a bit of baking and some smoothies and it works really well. The blender does a great job, and the jug works well for the smoothies. The whisk is a bit flimsy, it is ok for now, but I can see it giving up after some use. It’s mostly very easy to clean, but some food stuff can get stuck under the blender blade.

Overall experience is great. Of course is slightly tricky to clean it around the blades as there is little space, but the blender is so powerful and creating such a smoothness that you can spend a couple more seconds by proper cleaning after use The only small imperfection is when using a food processor the handle of blender just sits inside the mini chopper's lid. It will feel safer if there is a twist lock of some sort and if the mini chopper is provide with a silicon hen to sit on the dest without slipping away. There is a space for improvement, however, I always expect high quality from tefel.

I used it to blend corn soup. It works perfectly. Easy to wash. Simple operation. I tried using the beater to foam up the cream. Maybe I should practice more, I feel like traditional hand mixer works better in this case. But as a hand blender and if you want to make soup with it it’s good 👍🏻

It may be a little pricier than other models but there's nothing about this blender that feels cheap. The stainless steel parts are good quality and the plastic is probably thicker and more substantial than you'd expect. I've been blending cereal and fruit for an all day breakfast and the lowest speed setting is absolutely fine. The turbo button would be useful for crushing ice, I haven't got round to that yet but I'm sure I will. You do indeed get what you pay for and this is worth every penny so far.

Ordered as a replacement for my Braun hand blenders as the whisk attachment broke after 10 years +. Found the stick heavier, noisier and vibrated more than my old Braun. Also the power cord is quite short so I am unable to blend soup on the hob as it does not reach whereas my old Braun did. On the plus side, the blending pot is nicer and easier to clean than the Braun. If I had the choice again I would probably not buy this product again.

I tend to buy Tefal products for majority of the kitchen, and I can confidently say, haven't made a mistake here either! This little machine is brilliant. No splashes, easy to use, easy to clean, not too noisy and its pretty compact. Made some cookies the other day and they were great! I can't say how this would compare with other blenders in its price range, as this is my first. But I would highly recommend if anyone else has good experience with Tefal.

Why would you sell this product in Australia when it doesn't fit Australian power points. REALLY!!! This product leaves a lot to be desired and is very disappointing.
